Post link: Is New York Times transphobic? @nostupidquestions@lemmy.world elaborating on why i was asking for confirmation in the post
how come most of their trans related opinion articles rarely invite a trans to get more of a trans perspective? for context, Media Matters and FAIR both have found that the vast majority of articles they published contained misinformation or outright harmful rhetoric against the trans community and over 130 articles on trans issues, and only quoted trans people in 14 of them also when the infamous US v. Skrmetti Supreme Court decision happened, which ruled that Tennessee’s ban on gender affirming care is legal, cited the Times 29 times in justifying their decision

how is this post promoting an agenda?
Yeah, honestly, just because I agree with your stance and opinion of the New York Times, doesn’t mean that the post fit that community.
It really is an implied opinion post (NYT bad), hidden underneath a fact-reporting post (NYT provably transphobic and morally and factually corrupt).
I agree with all of it, but neither is an actual question expecting answers, and you posted on NoStupidQuestions.
Kind of a smartass move, to be honest.
Support. But it’s not really a question, since the NYTrash is extremely, overtly transphobic.
It wasn’t a stupid question, it was a leading question on an (unfortunately) charged topic which would have been better suited to a different kind of community.
Your added explanation leads toward a specific kind of answer instead of leaving it more open-ended.
I agree with you, but I don’t think that was the right place for the discussion to happen. Maybe a TIL or one of the more directed discussion communities would be better suited.
Looks to me like the mod was entirely correct. If you need to ask this sort of thing, try doing it without using the bait format.
Christ. “elaborating on why i was asking for confirmation” Talk like a human, not some fukin clanker.
Start over.
Don’t act like a troll.
There might be someone interested in engaging in your agenda, if you don’t make it so obvious.
YDI.In the context of that specific community the question sure looks like bait about something regressives have turned into a charged political topic. It isn’t really a stupid question, more of an observation phrased as a question. The rule is clearly based on the mods opinion of intent, not mind reading, and the tongue in cheek phrasing of the rule conveys that they just don’t want those kinds of discussions in that specific community.
A news community would be a better setting to discuss the topic.
All they did was remove the post because it didn’t fit. YDI I guess?
In the context of that specific community the question sure looks like bait
i could see what you mean if OP asked “Is New York Times transphobic” and leave at that, but OP seems to have elaborated on why the question and seemed pretty specific and not “baiting” unless now the whole topic becomes bait just for being mentioned? then maybe you are using the wrong word but bait doesnt seem like it
It isn’t really a stupid question, more of an observation phrased as a question.
a question that could be misunderstood as bait with elaboration under it doesnt mean its an observation phrased as question but you seem to contradict with what you said previously (maybe you didnt notice or overthinking it?)
news community would be a better setting to discuss the topic
i dont think news communities usually allow posts like this, do they? people only share articles and the posts usually not doing it comes from a mod
All they did was remove the post because it didn’t fit.
OP doesnt seem to be throwing the fit over their post being removed or trying to make it seem bigger than it is and actually being very specific and elaborating, your phrasing for someone judging others way to paraphrase their thoughts sure looks to attempt to minimize
i find it suspiciously weird how OP posted this quickly but that doesn’t invalidate everything else (nor change whether YDI or PTB), it looks PTB to me (curious if OP got a private message from mods since this rule mentions they might get which could help understanding the decision, its not specified on the post)
No stupid questions is for asking questions that the poster thinks might be stupid to ask. Like if eating cheese in the bath is normal.
Elaboration shows they have really thought about it and it is a topic for a serious discussion, not finding out that the question they thought might be stupid is just something people don’t talk about much.

They posted it in a community called ye power tripping bastard to ask if their bait post being deleted made the mod a power tripping bastard. They also assume it is the promoting an agenda part and not the bait part. The bait part just fits better in my opinion.
They are making it bigger than it is.
It may not be specifically intended to be bait, but it sure looks like it. I’d remove it too. There’s probably a better community to ask that in.
ptb
if it were only the title of the article being asked, i could how that would be bait, but the article asks plenty of good questions that should be open for debate, they just dont wanna have that debate
lemmy.world is a joke
PTB
lemmy.worldayuh, there’s your problem right there.
Yet another stupid rule that requires mods to read minds, which they’re famously terrible at.
PTB but I almost think this is a distinct case that needs its own term…
