If maga is building a 60 foot nuke bunker under that thing, it’s more than likely they are going to trigger a nuke war.
Americans are hopelessly lost.
I think the mid-terms will be the moment that becomes clear to everyone here.
I won’t be surprised if they fumble the bag again listening to lies and cruelty.
Or get hung out to dry by election fraud.
There’s no need for electoral fraud. For the past half century the turnout at the polls for mid-term elections has been around 40%EV. (For presidential elections it’s around 60%EV.) All they have to do to win over the astonishing sloth and apathy of the American voter base is rally an extra 2-3% to go to the polls. And they have the built-in tools to do that given that what passes for the “left” in the USA is determined to stay the course on their “Operation: Foot Bullet” plan.
Imagine how difficult an 80 or 85% turnout would have been to defraud or steal an election from.
Can’t tell them this though, ‘you don’t understand’ is the answer you get. Then a litany of ‘reasons’
The saddest part to me is that people think these midterms will do anything.
The American voting public is still filled to the brim with sloth and apathy. The American political system still only offers two faces of fascism: the ugly face and the kind-seeming one. The American cultural rot is still proceeding apace with no reduction in sight until the nation disintegrates.
They’ve spent so long in comfortably distracting cages they have no idea what to do about anything.
Every single thing is entirely by their own choice.
Not “this is because Adobe complicated thing”, no, everything is because of their choices they made and their specific actions to ruin everything.
Agreed. I’m an American. I’m not going to sit here and pretend the country did things right in the world, but along with all the bad is the counter balance of the US dollar and world stabilization through world trade. It was economic diplomacy. Again, this is just a statement of observation and not an endorsement. We’re dead and we just don’t know it yet. Our world credibility is at an all time low, our military is depleted, our reserves are depleting, food scarcity is on the rise and our debt has balloon with the guardrails and safety nets that we spent 100 years developing being gutted and undermined.
I never thought I would see it in my lifetime. It’s devastating. I don’t say that asking for sympathy. I’ve seen enough of what happens on the world stage to understand that such things are deserved in one way or another.
I hope that in the history books, people will understand that no country is a monolith, and that our greatest failures on the whole was not malice but inaction as a response to our leaders’ complete disregard for our wishes.
… but along with all the bad is the counter balance of the US dollar …
“Along with all the bad is the tool used to actually commit most of that bad.”
Not quite the selling point you’re making it out to be here.
I hope that in the history books, people will understand that no country is a monolith…
I hope that in the history books the apathy and sloth of the USA’s voting public will be held up like corpses were held up in gibbets as a warning to those who come afterwards.
Yes but they didn’t do it because they’re evil. Let’s not ignore the material reality that causes their interests to align with power accumulation. That’s a systemic issue. You can have good people in power and in the current system the end point is the same. We need socialism.
We do need socialism, but America must first pass through several decades of fascism. Whatever emerges after the trump family collapses will be unrecognizable.
Germany learned after barely over a decade of fascism.
Oh, right. Germans were, relatively speaking, educated.
That, and the rest of the world got involved instead of assuming it will never reach them.
by pressing Denmark, a founding member of the alliance, to cede its sovereign territory of Greenland. This created a serious crisis and compelled the Europeans to begin acting autonomously when it came to both trade and defense issues
America was declining way before Donald Trump; Nothing of value would be lost. Sadly; Like a bad case of cancer it will be difficult to get rid of America.
It’s easy to get rid of America.
Just do it.
There is so little America in my life right now it’s almost embarrassing.
I mean living in a country that has been affected by American political intervention i have to ask how do you do it? Zen budhisim? Self lobotomy?
I consciously check labels (plus a bit more) and eschew anything that has ties to an American company. I removed myself from American corporate media services. I don’t use American banking services: no credit cards, for example. And I drink enough hard liquor (non-American, natch! … no bourbon!) to smash those brain cells that have any memory of once having admired the USA.
So i get from your answer that to you politics is an act of consumption: you don’t consume the bad american stuff and that brings you a semblance of piece of mind, do you apply this attitude to all aspects of your life? If there is a fire on your neighborhood you shut the blinds and avoid the concept of fire? If you get sick you ignore the illness and remove your attention from media that display disease?
I don’t give money to people who are attacking my people. That is, yes, an act expressed through consumption. You’d prefer I go hunting Americans with a shotgun or something?
Your parallels are utterly idiotic; you are equating choices made by people—who have agency—to fires and diseases which do not. To paraphrase a famous movie clip, we are all dumber for having heard you express this foolishness. Go peddle whatever incoherent shit you’re peddling elsewhere. Ideally, perhaps, in a rubber room.
