Ive saved plenty of movie clips with PipePipe on Android. Its very easy to do.
ffmpeg is capable of it.

KdenLive is free, is not “difficult”, and is what I would use.
People say easy because they are tired, they maybe remember the early days when people wrote freeware that performed just one function, very clearly. Now programs can tend to follow the coat hanger and combined harmonica rule and that can be quite tiring.
I see your point, but something as simple as cutting a section of a video file should be quite easy to do, even with the most complicated software anyone can find.
But the complicated software or really most software is not efficient and too wide a church with too big a footprint and wants trialed subscription and your email and permission to know your location and what you watch on TV and what you meant by that thing you said on the phone to your brother and can you write a review and take a survey and it just weighs people down and they seek out the easy.
I hope you saw the ffmpeg answer by Toes below. Annoyingly it has fewer upvotes so is lower down (at least for however my viewer works).
Thanks, I am not the OP, parts of ffmpeg are bundled with the k-lite codec pack which I have for media player classic but mainly I use avidemux for simple video cuts and encoding. Probably should have mentioned that earlier but I went off on a unhelpful side-rant.
For simple cuts and splices I use LosslessCut. Never used it on a movie but it should work, and it is fairly straight forwards as it only has one main function.
Shotcut is neat for stuff like this.
Videos are not 3D files, they don’t need to be sliced.
iMovie is very easy to use.
What tools have you found difficult to use?
I think the main issue is that it takes a lot of RAM to edit videos or everything slows to a halt, but as long as I’ve had enough ram KdenLive & openshot have worked fine IIRC
Openshot has been pretty good for my needs
