I notice it too now. All fonts don’t do this. It’s a feature of some fonts called ligatures: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligature_(writing)#Stylistic_ligatures

Threw a few basic keyword searches at it and it just returns Wikipedia / Britannica as the top results, consistently.

Then I went fishing for anime torrents and got some fairly decent results.

I did some basic “news of the day” searches and I get back exactly what you’d expect. Links to PBS and NYT and WaPo for the most part.

Somehow, this is marginally better than Google/Bing, but not by much. I’m really not seeing a difference. Other than “Its based because we’re conservative” what is the sell on this digital tool?

I hope they all get taken for long slow rides. Preferably to the bottom of large bodies of water. Or even ponds, those work too.

I mean, maybe. But I’m still not even sure what this is selling.

It’s not like Conservapedia, which is legitimately unhinged. It’s not Black Rifle Coffee, which is basically just a grift for US Military Base grocery stores. What’s the point?

You’ve made a terrible search engine, but a relatively decent dating site/news aggregator. Or so I am told. I’m only here to discuss Scrabble and european cartoons. Asterix and Obelix really went downhill huh?

Result hunter is a hilariously telling name. “No I’m not interested in searching or learning, I already know what the result is, I just need the machine to tell it to me so I can feel good about my worldview.”

is it okay to say the n word

Many of the results are Reddit and Quora.

Google’s top result is NPR which I suppose is blocked from Result Hunter.

I’m paying for Kagi and my favourite feature is the results personalisation. I can up and down-rank sites based on if I like them or not. I enjoy it and it gets frequent updates but I’m ready to unsubscribe the moment they do something stupid. Which hasn’t happened yet… but I smell it in the future.
