China can withstand any new tariffs the world throws at it – even the punitive ones Donald Trump is planning if he wins a second presidential term – because its prices are simply too competitive to resist.

      Certainly going to be civil unrest conditions given that most people are already living hand to mouth. There’s just not a lot of slack left in the system to absorb another economic shock.

      That would require the US to stop propping up US automakers. I think we’re at least a decade away from that being possible.
