“The greatest enemy of authority, therefore, is contempt, and the surest way to undermine it is laughter.”
No, only because fascism doesn’t occur on an individual level. Individuals can only really identify or not with fascist movements.
Played through it; great job!
The sound effect from hitting mobs was very satisfying. However, they seemed to have invincibility frames after getting hit, which didn’t match up with the visual flash. Maybe time the flash to indicate the damage window?
If possible, maybe only have mobs respawn if you move at least two screens away from them, instead of as soon as you leave the screen.
Did you do the sprites and music yourself? Very well done, especially the dungeon music.

“We need to stop being so divided.”
Finally playing Xenosaga for the first time. It’s pretty good.
Although I went in assuming that there would be fewer long text-dumps than Xenogears, and MonoSoft was all “Hold my sake.”
Americans continuing to stand up for their right to plague and annoy each other.
I’m generally having success with small-scale, experimental indie stuff, like Baba Is You and Vampire Survivors.
But I think it will depend on your specific preferences as a gamer. I’ve been having a blast lately, re-playing various JRPG’s from my youth and discovering new details which I’d missed. So, anything familiar to you may be worth playing again while high, if you haven’t already.
THis is real highposting btw.
Do you mean, games which are simple enough for you to effectively play while kinda minorly stoned?
This reminds me of a Discovery Channel show from about 15-20 years ago, called “Escape from Planet Earth” or something, where a solar disaster required evacuating a small number of people to a new planet, within the next 5-10 years, using modern technology. There were two projects, one public and one private, and the private one ended up exploding on the launch pad because it was rushed and over-engineered.
Imagine David Koch, a billionaire, sitting down with his Economist and seeing an article about how “Clinton Named In SA Allegation”. David is shocked and declares that “No billionaire would do such a thing”. The next day he sits down to read his Economist again; and, this time, finds an article about Jeffrey Epstein, a billionaire, whose brutal actions make Clinton seem almost gentlemanly. This fact shows that David was wrong in his opinion, but is he going to admit this? Not likely. This time he says: “No true billionaire would do such a thing”.
How is Xenosaga, as compared to Xenogears? The latter, as clunky an unfinished mess as it is, is one of my favourite-ever titles. I just finished a playthrough and now there is a big sucking void in my life.
Never got around to playing XS. I never bought a PS2, and I guess I hesitated because it was supposed to be a 6-game series that only reached 3. Then again, XG is really only half a game too, and I’m fine with that.
I liked Xenoblade Chronicles but I would have preferred it included more 101-level psychology and theology, like XG.
Fate: The Cursed King, as recommended by the Low Spec Games copypasta.
Almost finished my chemically-enhanced (ie. weed) playthrough of Xenogears.
You are KILLING Independent George!
(More specifically, he is killing you.)
I am thinking of composing a video essay titled Xenogears Is Probably Not Marxist But You Never Know.
I’ve seen more than one come in with “He’s just playing the long game, wait and see.”
Maybe not a fad so much as the natural change in the industry towards digital distribution, but I miss the days of “feelies” - physical promotions like cloth maps included with games.
Then again, I had to call Nintendo because I lost the letter that provided the clue you needed to complete Startropics.
I’m sure this will totally make all the transphobes in the gay/lesbian community realize that they were always next on the chopping block.
