  • To am sorry to hear that!

Feelings are coming and going, so will this pass. Its valid to feel any emotion, its how we deal with it. I will come to it below… In my experience it helps to:

    • journal about it just dump every thought that comes up on some paper. This helps to make your thoughts and feelings more real.
    • chatting with someone also greatly helps, its like journaling but with feedback. I am always surprised how nice their reactions are and how good it feels.
    • you can also chat with an AI, make shure you pick one that respects your privacy or even running a local modeln on a strong pc through ollama or such. Its a I between of journaling and talking I think? You can prompt the AI to behave a certain way which can help.
    • therapy is great. In some places its hard to get but even a few sessions help to get your own thoughts going. In germany its tough right now, but just try. There are also some institutions from Unis where ongoing therapists can have their first patients, its a lot more accessible and can help
    • I think the current psychological stance is that the best way to improve most psychological situations is meta cognitivity. The idea is basically to see your emotions as they happen, which allowes you to label them and take a step back. The emotions will not define you as much, and you will be able to deal with them. This helps to develop emotional management, which is the only way to deal with emotions. You can’t control them.
    • idk what your inner process is. Some people are just kind of comfortable with a sad feeling and come back there as a safe space of sorts. Other people seek it for other reasons, you should talk about a therapist if you find this interesting. In the end like others have said it’s propably some form of depression, which can get better! It takes work and time but it will improve!
    • in general we tend to question our good thoughts not your bad ones. Try to switch it up and reverse it, try to prove to yourself why x is good, not try to find a reason y is bad

I am afraid I myself have no concrete advice how to improve your situation right now. Be kind to yourself like a loving parent would be. Force yourself to go for a walk even if it feels exhausting, get a coffee or so and something nice to snack. Maybe see a friend with a little warning you are not feeling to great but need some different input or just have a beer and don’t talk, just get a hug, idk. It will strengthen your friendship a lot. Idk if you already established that, ans idk your friends but some get spooked so maybe go slow and have them ask questions or so. Maybe get some nice food and play a game or watch a movie, allow yourself to feel good about it. You deserve it.

Love to you! It will get better :) <3

  • I don’t know how exactly they are trained to behave, I would assume the goal of the creators is to have an AI that is easy to work with so more people use it. That makes them agreeing and write like humans maybe? And for sure they are build to seem smarter and more capable than they are, this is an issue we have to overcome. I suppose its difficult to train an AI to say “I don’t know” because its just a mushy mess of matrices and vectors and data is not “stored” in their system but generated to represent something that seems cmas close as spossible to the truth?

  • Tbh i don’t quite get it.

I expect to be downvoted like hell here for saying this, but I think discourse is important. Also, its not meant as an attack on op, I want to get my viewpoint out here for others to respond and spark a discission I hope

You went to chat with one of the lowest their models they offer. It detected an typo and reported it by saying “I made a typo”. You then tried to get it to admit it does not have fingers which it does by saying “what ever the equivalent of a typo is”. So first we don’t habe the language to say an AI generated an false word or token (other than this, which is pretty clunky), second what did you expect from an randomized predicting machine that drew its statistical data from language?

And why do you use it in the first place if you think its dumb?

Maybe this community is just meant as a place to rent and let out emotions or preach to the choir, then I am sorry to slide in here. But if we want to change how AI is used and works we have to find real issus and datapoints that we can use to discuss AI usage. There are enough talking points other than the language it uses, like education, energy, environment, noise, capitalism, human nature and a ton more

I just miss good discussions about political things like this. I would love if we could have a culture on Lemmy again where we upvote good discussions if we agree or disagree. Trolls and dumb arguments or insults can be downvoted. But we will not develop as a society if we just downvote what we don’t like to hear, its not black and white I think. Idk

  • I like the concept of mistral and its good for most things. Coding on the other hand is difficult. Mistral medium 3.5 often fails to use its own tools to edit files, gets things wrong and ist rather slow. I just had the opportunity to test codex and I have to say its a lot stronger obviously. I hope mistral soon releases a new large model with better instructions flooding and coding skills and improved tool usage!

  • I feel like there is a lot lore right wing propaganda or from Russia and China to destabilize the west. The reason I feel like is that the crazy rich people did not have moral or a back bone in the first place which is the reason why they accumulated the power and wealth in the first place to influence others. Like i said, watch the video of benn Jordan about that.

Also, you might feel or be resistant to propaganda, but I bet your and my parents or great parents are not and they still make the minority of voters

Number 1 argument for me is, your data can be used to manipulate you, postly politically. You might not be a big target because you use Lemmy and linux and a vpn or whatever but other people that are not interested in tech are

Even if its not political manipulation, maybe its optimizing ads so you buy more. Which then can be used to manipulate you politically as you lack the funds to stand up for your morals. And even if you personally do, because you might have a privileged background, others might not and for them its absolutely worth fighting for.

Benn Jordan has a great video about it

  • At this point I would rather use a Mac than windows I suppose. They are actually rather secure and are Unix which is nice.

But in general, if you don’t care about moral, being caught in an actively hostile eco system, have enough money, and being the little bitch of bog tech, Apple is quite nice?

I mean tbh what is a valid Alternative? Android, same big tech dependency, just different company. Samsung wannabe apple but in shit and more evil. Windows, same big tech, just incompetent company and evil on top.

So apple seems at least to be quite okish if you don’t have the skill to degoogle your phone and use Linux?

In my bubble, apple has very little bad press about security, had few bugs until maybe 2 years ago, then it got worse I think? And the device connectivity is pretty solid. If you have enough money, their devices are pretty high quality, from a manufacturing standpoint. And they slowly allow repairs on their devices again
