That’s the next step of justifying this tragedy that we haven’t yet seen the US sink to… I give it less than a week before someone pulls that card.

1·1 day agoNot at all. I’d just propose we combine the punishments.
2 grand isn’t even that much in the grand scheme of things. A new Macbook starts at over 2 grand these days…

7·1 day agoThe man’s ego is so fragile he started a war over not receiving a prize he was ineligible for. I am pretty sure he’s already experiencing daily psychological pain by your definition.

World News@lemmy.world•Trump Sidelined Venezuela Opposition Leader Machado for ‘Ultimate Sin’ of Accepting Nobel Peace Prize: ReportEnglish
26·11 days agoI am partially convinced he started the war with Venezuela specifically because he felt slighted by her winning the prize. Just so he can be petty and deny her the reason she was awarded the prize in the first place.
Often transparently so. I remember the whole “toy bus” thing he pulled at one point during an interview.
Seriously, he’d look so much less like a clown if he dropped the bronzer habit and horrendous comb-over that I am certain he does this on purpose to deflect criticism for his actions by drawing all the attention to how he looks. It’s like a diversion tactic, and sadly it’s working.
This is getting dangerously close to no longer being satire. I am still appalled we got here within a year and I shudder to think where things go from here.

12·1 month agoI am fully anticipating Danielle to throw some kind of media tantrum over this that somehow makes the UCP look even worse than they already do. Absolute joke of a provincial leadership that has no policies other than what lobbyists paid most for and reactionary BS they imported from the US culture war.
Thanks for sharing that story. This is the kind of stuff that makes me miss the old internet (personal stories about interesting stuff, told in blog format without any kind of social media hype-train angle) and gives me a great appreciation for the kind of nerdy shenanigans engineers used to do.

3·1 month agoAlways upvote RATM. If only people actually woke up when they first started yelling at us to Wake Up, we could’ve avoided the current mess.

49·1 month agoHoly shit this is hard to read, what a grotesque dystopia the US has become.
I am at a loss for words to describe just how completely fucked this situation is.

By the end of 2026 it will be considered quaint. The US is inching closer and closer to a Tiananmen Square incident. [Edit] I mean, with tanks and all deployed against the populace.
