Climate@slrpnk.net•Europe must choose between AI and climate goals, data center lobby says6·9 days agoAI craze in “Europe” (not all Europe) is another example of some people blindly following USA for no real reasons. There is political fight right now and we have to decide whether we will forge our own better destiny or fall prey to American ruling class of tech bros, billionaires and conservatives who are their executive branch.

Ignoring hundreds of small problems for the sake of profit and sloth caused it. And it’s not really worse than the alternative, just a bit different

Degrowth@slrpnk.net•How the world can avoid millions going hungry when supply chains collapse

Degrowth@slrpnk.net•How the world can avoid millions going hungry when supply chains collapse
1·27 days agoYes. More varied plant based diet are a little harder to achieve than standardised western diet because it can’t be that easily industrialised, yeld oriented and easily managed and controlled.

Apartments are a great answer, because they also slash carbon emissions in a big way.10·2 months agoI’m sorry, why are we operating under the assumption that apartments=rentals? It’s not a given at all, even taking into consideration that there is quite a lot of systems where you are not renting from private landlords but from the city/cooperative

1·2 months ago- Yes, it does sound exactly like being a minority in hostile environment (I can only ascertain that’s what being gay in conservative society feels like, but I can assume any minority can be described that way).
- “Deep Adaptation" sounds very close to what we have societally do in Poland and it can very easily become a trap where you can’t meaningfully change anything in exchange for feeling a little bit better about yourself.
