4·1 day agoThere’s also all this discussion about who will pay for this nonsense. Will it be the city or the province? The real answer is taxpayers.
Snapping Senator was one of my favourites.
I really hope we have decent data on traffic since the bike lanes were put in so that we can see whether removing them helps. Induced demand strongly suggests it will not help but the fact that Ford is doing this in the first place demonstrates that he is not influenced by evidence or science in general.

2·2 days agoI can’t wait for the carbrain victim complex to conjure up complaints of being punished for speeding. In Ontario, there were drivers (publicly, in news articles) saying that they’re essentially too distracted while driving to keep track of the speed limit and their speed relative to it. This was their argument against speed cameras. Incredible.
In Toronto, Doug Ford is about to rip out bike lanes in a misguided attempt to improve traffic congestion. There is currently no evidence that the bike lanes made traffic worse and there is strong evidence that induced demand will return traffic congestion to pre-bike lane removal levels fairly quickly. Advertising preys on stupidity, but we’ve also got a stupidity problem.
I’ve got an EHX Qtron. It’s great but the footprint is pretty huge. I also really like the Sample and Hold mode on the Spatial Delivery. Maybe it’s time to make the switch…

1·3 days agoI’ve used Sync for years and it’s great. I would be shocked if none of the other companies you noted here advertise on a Meta owned platform.
This is a great article looking into the evidence regarding the impact of bike lanes on traffic in Toronto. It turns out, there’s no clear relationship. This would matter if Doug Ford wasn’t science illiterate.

201·4 days agoNotably: “The White House says, “Canada has extracted a persistent average annual goods trade deficit of roughly $50 billion from the U.S. over the last decade — while refusing reciprocal access.”
The overall number is correct (it was $48.5 billion in 2025, according to the U.S. Trade Representative). But as premiers and others have repeatedly noted, the only reason for that is because Canada exported 3.9 million barrels of oil per day to the U.S. last year.
States near Canada’s border need the oil, and it’s sold at below-market prices, a significant economic advantage for the U.S.
If that oil were removed from the calculation, the U.S. would have a goods surplus with Canada. In other words, excluding energy, it exports more stuff to Canada than Canada exports to the U.S.”
That’s a pretty weak heuristic. They’re a privacy focused Canadian cloud storage company with Canadian servers…
I realize this is of course subjective, but that claim is just absurd.

Complete waste indeed. Nothing worthwhile that could be spent on instead 🙄 I wonder if Ford understands what an opportunity cost is. Actually, I don’t wonder. I’m quite sure he has no idea.
