Nostalgic for this era of the internet.

We got an all-hands meeting next week that’s the length of an entire workday. I’m expecting similar shit.
is IRC still a thing? This just makes me miss that, especially seeing the 95/98 UI
Make me bulletproof
Give me legendary fighting skills
…put 3 in the pocket for later use
I would just go around beating up cops
I feel like this could’ve easily been the plot to Luke Cage if the writers weren’t a bunch of fucking libs
Check out Shadow of Memories. No one I know has ever even heard of this game and part of me feels like this was just a half-imagined fever dream from my child hood. I don’t remember how I played this game - if I rented it, or just came upon it, but it was such a surreal mindfuck for my 12 year old brain.
It’s got time traveling, exploring, mystery, bizarre voice acting, it’s really a game that’s before its time and to this day I still don’t remember much about it other than vibes and HOMONCULUS. Basically, everyday you are killed and you have to solve your own murder and everyday you are revived. If I am remembering correctly? You can’t attack or anything, just explore and uncover mysteries
There’s a half-dozen or so different endings depending on the choices and it’s just such a weird fucking game. I could also be remembering a lot of this through rose-tinted glasses so idk, but definitely put a few hours into it if you like weird games.
I worked at a grocery store once and had an old lady come in and throw an absolute tantrum because we were out of a certain cookie.
She literally stomped up and down like a toddler throwing a hissy fit and shouting “I WANT IT!” “I DROVE 30 MINUTES FOR THESE COOKIES!”
I think my manager just gave her some uncooked dough for free.
No one has been able to re-create how this game felt. Every attempt at making a new version of this one loses something in the process. Game studios don’t understand that graphics and fluidity aren’t the defining features of a game. The defining features are
Haven’t played this game in nearly 20 years and even then it was considered an old game with only around 3-4 dedicated servers left. Wonder how that’s going nowadays.
Xenoblades 3
Get back into playing guitar. It’s been about 5-6 years since I’ve picked up an instrument. Played regularly from 14-28, was even in a band. Ended up selling all my instruments because I was poor.
Just bought this for $180.
Gonna get a boss katana 50 and see how it goes
Also gonna get back into drawing. Haven’t drawn since I was a kid. Seems like a fun, calming hobby. Thinking about just doing graphite or pen and paper.
Been watching my partner play Metaphor: ReFantazio and it’s basically a better version of the Persona games without the forced romance or weird shit that persona games do. It looks like it took all the best elements of those games and improved upon them. The story is pretty good so far 20 hours in. Gameplay is typical persona/jrpg gameplay but I like the choice of either enganging an enemy and transitioning to a turn-based fight, or just wacking it with your sword and keep it moving if you’re stronger than the enemy. More rpgs need this.
I was recently playing Watch Dogs 2, since it was on gamepass and I thought I’d give it a shot. I think the story is pretty cool 3-5 hours in but I also put it down about a week ago and have no desire to pick it back up. The gameplay wasn’t really doing it for me. Just kinda felt like a clunkier GTA game with some sci-fi elements. The characters seemed interesting, though.
Honestly, been looking for a game to really scratch that itch and I haven’t found one I really enjoy in a minute. I need to buy a mini pc to play Baldur’s Gate 3. Oh, and I’m looking forward to Date Everything because I love goofy shit.
Every single day goes by like any other day, a cycle of endless repetition, stuck in samsara
But yeah, christmas hasn’t felt like anything special since I was a kid and honestly I dread it every year. Lots of ptsd from working in retail my entire adult life, or being forced to go to mandatory company holiday parties, to having to spend it with my father-in-law at his mom’s house, as he loses his temper over something trvial, yells at his daughter, and causes a scene. Sometimes I get money though, which is cool.
damn the good die so young
Being 12-13, coming home from school, heating up some tostinos pizza rolls, throwing on some crazy taxi, listening to system of a down
shit was great
i am a strong believer that if intent and meaning is able to be interpreted from what you write, then structure and delivery or grammar isn’t as important. I know a lot of grammer/english nerds will scoff at this but I don’t give a shit. My favorite shit is those crazy ramblings or scribbled ideas that are only marginally connected to each other. Like the kind of unstructured ideas jotted down in a notebook with little to no structure. Love that shit.
Absolute refrigerator of a man
BG 1&2 were my comfort games I loved them so much. Played it back when it came out as a kid and man, this will always be what gaming is to me.
bill ward is such an underrated drummer, man
Oh wow, I completely forgot about that site. I used to lurk there back in the very early 00’s. Was never going to pay to use a fucking forum lol.
That place was basically a proto-r*ddit with all the same lib snark culture. Didn’t one of the users that got banned from there go on to create 4chan, or am i misrembering?
Somebody yelled racial slurs at me last night but I got auditory processing issues and didn’t understand, so he had to repeat himself a bunch, and I just kinda stared and didn’t realize what he said until I was driving away and then started laughing, thinking that would’ve been a funny comedy sketch
