        1. Rich people and organizations want to give money to trump, but dont want it to be publically available that the money was given
        2. Trump puts out garbage books, nfts, shoes, whatever merch
        3. Interested parties buy them all as an easy way of him doing “legitimate business” that looks innocuous

          Also you can record cash sales of the shoes for thousands of dollars but you never actually sold it, just burned it or never even made the shoe, but now you have a legitimate transaction for your dirty money.

            After Some More News went on the recent silly tangent about Trump guitars, I fine the theory that none of these products even exist extremely believable.

            1. Take picture of existing luxury object (Gibson guitars, high end sneakers, fabrige eggs)
            2. Barf some hideous Trump branding all over it in Photoshop.
            3. Profit Laundering!

          More importantly in this case, it allows otherwise-illegal foreign contributions to Trump.

          Nobody is paying Trump for providing classified information. They just like sneakers.

          In step three, do the shady backers actually buy the shoes? I thought they gave the money illegally, and then trump and co laundered it by saying they sold all those shoes. Been awhile since I watched Sopranoes or Ozark.

    That generation is very susceptible to “collectables” because they’re the generation who’s richest started paying insane money for childhood toys.

    They’re not buying these to wear, they’re just manipulated into thinking it’ll be worth 100x is 20 years.

    Most of trump merch is like that, and presidential merch does have a collectible market. But things sold as collectibles rarely increase in value, because everyone saves them.

    Being confused about why they do it is almost as bad as falling for it.

    It’s not a fungible item like normal shoes, they see it as long term investment

        If it was that they’d be 30k a piece, or they’d just give it to a PAC or book entire floors of his hotels without anyone checking in.

        This was a grift for rubes, they have better ways to wash money

      Nah missed Midas turned everything into actual gold, something with intrinsic value. Trump turns Chinese shit into (fake gold) plated Chinese bullshit, like his stupid fucking penthouse which would be worth more if it weren’t decorated to look like it was done by hedonism bot post lobotomy.

    curiously, holiday spending doesn’t seem to have changed much this year, from last year. (i would argue inflation isn’t really relevant due to how people perceive it)

    truly fascinating, how these people can’t afford shit like, eggs, or, food, but manage to buy apple devices just fine.

      Yep. We were joking that no one is egging houses anymore because it’s up to 50¢ a throw. It’s like carnival prices.
