I got a referal to a gender specialist clinic. The waiting time for children to receive care is 2.5 years. The waiting time for adults isn’t even listed (I somehow doubt its less than for children, since the kids need it sooner). I’m cooked.

I assume that this is the UK? You may want to look into self-managed transition (i.e. DIY) care if you have the means/support network for it.
It’s not. I’m in the netherlands. I’ve thought about going DIY as a backup, but it’s not going to be easy for me. I don’t have anything resembling a support network. Only thing going for me is that I can afford to squeeze in maybe 50 euros of extra spending every month if I cut down on food.
