    Doesn’t really matter, Tesla doesn’t make money from selling cars. They make money from selling EV carbon credits to other car manufacturers. Plus collecting government subsidies.

      Ok but what happens when the for realsies auto companies start churning out cheaper, better EVs?

      Those credits plummet in value because Tesla isn’t the only company with the money printer.

        They get tariff’d to the stratosphere if they’re not owned by American oligarchs, and the prices are kept high even if production costs are low to protect high profit margins if they are owned by American oligarchs.

        Who do you think is buying the carbon credits? ICE manufacturers.

        They do so to be in compliance with offset programs in states like CA without actually changing what cars they make. Because that’s cheaper.
