There was talk of this Mayday sit in at the DC Mall, but for people outside the states it seems like everyone capitulated. I understand corporate media would not want to report on it, but is there anything happening on the ground where you live?
Not that I’ve seen. People are pretty burned out, and it seems like everyone is just waiting for someone else to handle things. And that’s pretty much how we got here.
Every Tuesday there is a protest in my town, nothing huge and it is a small town. But there are a dozen or two out there every week.
Tesla takedown. Every dealership every weekend
Even what the media does choose to report, it dramatically lessens the estimates of crowd sizes (by multiple orders of magnitude - I wish I were joking here but no).
Also there are multiple organizations doing the organizing, so lack of a listing in any one of them does not indicate absence of an event.
The media has never been more biased, it would seem. They report whatever they think will maximize profits and please their oligarch overlord who purchased them the most. Capitalism working as intended, actually. Hence the need to check multiple sources of media or spend a GREAT deal of time, energy, effort, and most costly of all, attention, figuring out which ones to trust. No I have no idea who it is that can be (none? hence back to checking multiple, and correlating with primary sources as well).
It is no surprise then that you are seeing a biased picture… by design.
I know for the April 5 event in the US, there was one event fairly close to me that was much closer than the one on a list three hours away, but it wasn’t included on any channels like the 50501 site until the day of. Not sure why, but I live in a pretty remote area and a lot of folks are not going to be using things like this or reddit to communicate.
To answer the question in your last sentence, I do not think much is happening on the ground where I live other than Trump signs slowly coming down.
I saw people today protesting Starbucks. AFAIK that was a specific issue with the union though, not about the political situation in general.
There have been several protests that I know of around the Twin Cities in the past few weeks about things like immigrant rights, but yeah you’d have to check smaller news sites:
it seems like everyone capitulated
Capitulated on what issue? I mean, Trump being President?
