I was scrolling Facebook and came across a picture of WWII soldiers captioned something like “Woke leftists on their way to persecute fascists for disagreeing with them”. I’d post the picture but Facebook resets every fucking time I navigate away from it and come back for some reason.

Anyway, this quote was posted at least 3 times in the comments by fascists attempting to “refute” the idea that fighting the Nazis was morally correct:

Gentlemen, I have come this morning to the inexcusable conclusion that we have fought on the wrong side. This entire war we should have fought with the fascists against the communists and not the other way around. I fear that perhaps in fifty years America will pay a dear price and become a land of corruption and removed morals.

Apparently there’s no good source for the direct quote but he did agree with the sentiment and was relieved of command for it.

    Yeah this sentiment is technically not “wrong” for an american general to have, the only major powers that truly fought a war against fascism were China and the USSR. They probably only relieved him of his position to keep up appearances

    The west was mainly fighting an *inter-imperialist conflict, they did not join the war because they had any moral qualms with fascism nor with what the germans were doing. The genocide of minority groups including jews, slavs, queer people and leftists, along with their settler colonial genocidal campaign of annihilation and conquest, were atrocities that western powers committed in the past and present at the time in colonies and settler colonies. The nazi lebensraum was inspired by the genocide of the indigenous peoples of north america.

    we can clearly see how much of a shit these western liberal democracies truly give about fighting fascism by looking at a long bloody list of warcrimes and genocides, including the fact that for the past 2 years these countries have armed and supported the zionist entity as it has escalated its genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. The wests reactions to any antifascist action have been arresting and brutalizing people who have tried the most meagre peaceful protests against these atrocities at home and killing them and their families dead with hellfire missiles abroad (Yemen)

    in the first place if they gave a shit then they would have given back all the land they stole and stopped their imperialism long ago

    so from purely an ideological standpoint, america was fighting “the wrong enemy”

    in fact afaik their idea of “denazification” was “kill a bunch of scapegoats then use the nazis to make anticommunist propaganda, help them continue their work, leave the german capitalists alone”

    at the end of the day its good that a bunch of nazis died and this fact makes fascists seethe on the internet today, just dont want to promote any false consciousness about the antifascist potential of the american army, or what do you think?

    there is some off the wall real quotes from the guy, he did fully want to continue the war of extermination against the Soviets going as far as to suggest using German POWs to fight them. he was more or less relieved of command for being too antisemitic for 1940s America standards which you know says a lot
