No, I believe de-federation should have a very good reason. Mainly hate speech or supporting something criminal. de-federating just because the community is associated with Trump or because they have views much different than mine is both extreme and help dividing the nation even more.
Anyone self describing as maga is supporting hate speech and criminal activity.
Allowing the encroachment of fascist ideology on lemmy will not unite the US.

Cringe
Personally, I think supporting fascism is more than enough reason for me to want you gone.
don’t be quick to judge.
Just because I am saying we should be more tolerant to others that we don’t agree with doesn’t mean I “support” them.
If anything you’d probably be helping them more by driving the country toward a civil war.
I know you don’t mean to support them. But personally, I think your tolerance is unnecessary at best and harmful at worst. I want to cultivate a space free of any ideologies that are inherently hateful.
I have seen enough to know that anything maga has no place in any community I wish to be a part of. It does not deserve to be taken seriously. It does not deserve a platform. It should be treated as the revolting, thinly veiled, fascism that it is.
Anything less would be an insult to those that are harmed most by Trump’s actions.
