I am big into spending some time doing crafts with family. Ideally for me it’s got some recycling. I’ll be making cardboard houses this year, some paper chains and likely I’ll make some candle holders from clay.
What your craft project to escape the big world this year guys?
I recently made some caramel from scratch to make a warm caramel apple dip, and it wasn’t quite as hard as I imagined, and was super tasty, so I’m thinking I might try and make some homemade candy this year.
My immediate family isn’t big on gifts, but one of the things I do every year is find the most unhinged or weird mugs at thrift shops and give everyone a mug with some hot chocolate, candy canes, and other treats. Having some home-made treats in there for a change would be fun!Yeh when people have everything now it’s a good idea to make something personal.
I made a reef for my front door, and one of those 2x4 Christmas trees. Mine is over 5 feet tall. I most likely will make another.
With a Christmas reef on your front door you’ll be getting lots of coralers, I’m shore.
Spelling is hard lol
What type of wreath?
Wreath is generic, made of tree branches. Then I went to dollarama and got 6 poinsettias, couple large pine cones, some lights, and some white decorations. And put it all together.
I made two more 2x4 trees today. These ones are about 36 inches.
Are you leaving them plain wood or painting or decorating them. They make a good option for an outside tree really.
I am going to paint them, put some dollar store decorations (like trees or a bird on one side) and put them outside :).
We already have snow so I’m hoping the wooden decorations don’t get destroyed as quickly. We bought deer with lights before but it was destroyed in one or two winters with the amount of snow we had.
Definitely post up your decorations once you’re done! Maybe in a picture community. :)
I’m not big into Christmas decorations but I decided to make presents for my closest friends this year.
I already carved and sanded wooden mushrooms. They are only a few inches big so it’s not something that will take up a lot of space.
I just want to stain them now. I made a wooden mushroom as a birthday present recently and stained it with black and rooibos tea and it turned out really nice. This time I will also try vinegar+fruit juice as recommended from a random site that talked about staining wood that I found. I want to give these newer mushrooms a nice colourful top with light brown stems.
It’s kinda fun getting different shades. I’m sure they will be appreciated.
