President Trump said Wednesday that would unfurl a plan to make housing more affordable during a speech in two weeks in Davos, Switzerland, where the World Economic Forum will be held starting Jan. 19. In a post on social media, the president also announced that he would be “immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes,” and that he would ask Congress to codify it in law, though he did not release full details of his directive.

“People live in homes, not corporations,” he wrote. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

He says all kinds of shit. Still it surprises me that he said that. It seems to me he’s now in “midterms campaigning for the GOP” mode. He’s going to promise the moon and end up delivering nada.

Even just giving it lip service?

Not really. The dems love to entirely avoid any concrete expressions. They love rhetoric plus generalities like “a strong middle class” and “high-paying jobs”. For example - I wonder how often Obama used words like “rent”. Once in every 50,000 words? And now “affordability” is such a perfect dem word. They’ll use it like squawking parrots with zero details. It’s going to be a thought terminating cliché this year.

No the dems promise to send us money and then say “well actually trump paid you some already so we’re giving you less than we promised”

Probably but imagine he actually delivers on this, it would be the most massive slap in the face to democrats second only to nationalizing healthcare. I can’t imagine any dem proposing this kind of policy save for maybe Bernie if he were president.

It would be hilarious if he did it. The democrats counter-proposal would be" “Vote for us and we pinky swear we might form a commission to create a study for a proposal of the possibility of action at some time in the future.”

Edit. I fixed a typo but “we pinky wear we might” has a special ring to it.
