The heron I see every day at the same spot in my frequent searches for an elusive kingfisher. Nothing special about this picture, but I like how the back plumage stands out.

Very nice feather detail. Wading birds are quite fun to watch hunt. Their attack pose and strike is majestic.
Thanks! Yes they are fascinating. This one gulped a pretty sizable frog or fish moments before I got out the camera, unfortunately for me and for its prey.
