I mostly sit around and wait until it’s as short as possible.

Most every flight i get on tells everyone that overhead space will be full, so I know I like to make sure i can get overhead space close to me

Anxiety. The knock-you-out pills conflict with the anti-anxiety pills, so i don’t take the anti-anxiety pills, which makes the anxiety worse. I want to get on the plane so that I can get into a seat and take the knock-you-out pills so that they might work before taking off. What if someone’s in my assigned seat? What if I have to interact with them? What if they’re difficult? What if all the bins are full, then I need to take my batteries & meds out of the bag because they may lose them?

All of these what-if things have happened to me.

I prefer to drive but sometimes I don’t have the luxury of time.

Or those people that immediately try and board an elevator as soon as the door opens. Like bro, wait and see if someone is trying to get off the thing first.

My favorite is watching the people who boarded in the first group get arsed by the people in the last group who hop in the middle seats.

What is the point of getting on early just to sit and wait for the rest of the passengers to board?

If it’s Americans and an airport gate, it’s partly because our boarding groups are large and somewhat topologically random due to various statuses, and carry-on restrictions are loosely enforced. Therefore, being at the front of your herd can mean the difference between getting the overhead space that should be for your seat, as opposed to something that several seats away that’s a pain to get to. As boarding continues, it can determine whether you get overhead space at all.

      Here’s an idea…

      CHECK YOUR LUGGAGE

I swear airlines need to ban carry on luggage. Pretty much every problem with air travel is overhead storage.

Thank you! I hate it but that’s why I feel compelled to join the herd, the number of times I’ve seen people bring on huge duffels or hiker bags large enough to require thumping the bucket closed is too goddamn high

For the same reason people stand up as soon as the airplane stops 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️.

I got told off by the internet for saying the same thing once. Apparently, I should have been standing more during the flight and remained seated when the plane landed.

Can’t be, I’m the one standing up immediately because mu whole body hurts after 14 hours, the last hour is torture for me. Actually I stand up quite often and stand around the plane in different places during the flight to.

I try to get ticketed for window seats. And so I want to get on before the middle and aisle people sit down to avoid them having to get right back up to let me in.

I was just complaining about this on vacation where there are busloads of Chinese tourists! If you don’t know, they’re infamous for not queuing lol. I think it’s a learned behavior for “getting ahead.” Like in this example for instance, in a county of over a billion people, you develop this mentality of you have to be aggressive in life or you’re not getting anywhere and everyone else being passive are chumps.
