US president says ‘relationship is not what it was’ after PM defends decision not to allow use of British bases

Donald Trump has criticised Keir Starmer again over the UK’s refusal to aid the offensive strikes on Iran, saying the “relationship is obviously not what it was”.

Starmer had issued his strongest rebuke yet of Trump’s action in Iran, saying the UK did not believe in “regime change from the skies” and defended his decision not to allow the use of British bases to conduct the strikes.

But the prime minister said the UK would allow the use of its bases for defensive action to protect allied forces and nations in the Gulf and Middle East who have been hit by a wave of retaliatory strikes after the US-Israeli attacks on Iran.

      It is almost as if mistreating your allies makes them not want to back you up when you inevitably go to war in the Middle East again.

      That was the main benefit the US got out of NATO, but Trump has squandered it with his antics over the past year

    It’s only been 6 weeks or so since this prick was questioning whether the US needed NATO, and even said that the UK “will say that they helped out with the war in Afghanistan but they actually stayed way back away from the frontline”, now he’s bitching at UK right-wing media about Starmer saying no to the US using UK bases for his illegal war?

    Fuck yes. I had a bad feeling when USA was allowed to use UK bases in the region for “defense”.
    But it turns out he was actually serious. Hurray for that, let USA fix their own mess for once.

    We all remember the mistakes of Iraq, and we have learned those lessons. Any UK actions must always have a lawful basis,

    Absolutely fucking YES! to this too. We don’t need to repeat of the illegal invasion of Iraq based on false US intelligence.
    Apart from that Trump didn’t even try to make a case for plausible deniability.

    I’m not from UK, when I say we, I mean Europe and NATO. The British can be proud of their PM today. 👍 😀

      To be clear, helping bomb Iran’s means of retaliation/deterrence is not “letting them fix their own mess.” This is on the same level as exporting “defensive” weapons to Israel and thinking one isn’t accomplice to genocide.

      He has, as always, found the most spineless way to piss everybody off.

      He wont attack, but will let america do it from our bases, and will use the raf to defend those bases against reprisals from iran. But he wont attack iran.

      This isnt some grand moral masterstroke its just weak in every way.
