That’s true, but most people with that skill can also pick locks.
Picking isn’t really an option when it comes to Abloy disc detainer locks as you need a custom built device to pick it along with the skills to use it. However, anyone can just break the window and open the door from inside which is why I’m not particularly worried. That and the fact that I barely own anything worth stealing in the first place.
I’m not sure a video of someone successfully picking an Abloy disc detainer lock is good evidence for the claim that picking isn’t really an option when it comes to Abloy disc detainer locks.
I’ll grant that picking them is difficult, but cloning keys for them from photos is probably also more difficult than common pin tumbler locks.
Perhaps you’re not aware of who that “someone” in the video was but if it takes 4 minutes for him to pick a masterkeyed lock containing “dissapointing discs” by using a custom built tool, then that’s unpickable lock to 99.999% of people.
The only one you could copy from this picture is the Nissan and no one who knows how to do this is going to bother stealing a Nissan

Kizer has improved upon benchmade’s axis lock. Dropbear it’s adjustable and they’ll sell you one in LC200N
Pretty much this. But it’s a 600lm headlight (petzl) to keep hands free, and the knife is an carbon steel (opinel) which are much, much sharper than rvs.
Carbon steel isn’t inherently sharper than stainless. It’s just easier to get sharp. In the case of Opinel, much of why it cuts so well is due to the single bevel grind on the blade which makes the apex incredibly thin.

Mostly just my phone. I don’t need keys because my implants let me open doors at home and at work, and I don’t need a payment card because I also have a payment implant.
How do you fare in airport scanners?
They don’t ring. They’re much too small.
The only minor danger I was afraid of was being unable to go through MRI machines with those of my implants that have a ferrite core - i .e. small glass implants. But it turns out, they’re completely unaffected - at least up to 2T, which was the strongest MRI field I went through. They do warp the MRI scan pretty badly around them though 🙂
Can you take them out easily?

Implants usually involve a scalpel to get in and out of you - unless they’re small injectable glass implants like those for pets, in which case it’s just a small jab to implant it.
What about if they went through the washing machine?
Did you put that in yourself? It doesn’t look like a small needle. Did you get a glow or light up one? How do you keep the information safe? Sorry, so many questions. And it’s a lot cheaper than I was thinking.

Was your car key fob always waterproof or did you upgrade/replace it? That sounds really useful
Actually, it’s probably the reverse; When new it’s rated as waterproof down to 10m depth. Volvo calls it the “sports key”.
However, the battery is only rated for 3 years, and it’s not possible to change the battery without voiding the warranty, and having a new key programmed and shipped costs 500 USD equivalent.
But I’m a DIY cheapskate who voids warranty for a living, so I tore it up. It wad a standard 2032 cell, so I soldered o a new one and filled the fob with epoxy, and now it works again. I just don’t trust it to be as waterproof anymore.
I always keep it in my jeans, and it hasn’t failed me so far.
I haven’t needed it yet, but I still bring one of the proper key fobs for longer drives such as vacation or work trips.

Probably because the charging circuitry would make the electronics inside bigger, and a rechargeable cell has a massively reduced capacity compared to a primary cell. The electronics package is tiny, and the battery itself is by far the biggest component. I think it makes sense to keep it semi-single-use with those factors in mind.
In fact, I’ve considered 3d printing a new shell for it to make it even tinier and definitely water proof.
