Great Lakes region, USA. April 2026.
I was out for a walk when I stumbled on this guy trying to cross a busy road. I made sure to save him before he was roadkill. They have such beautiful eyes.

Is it just me or do these guys always look like they’d look you in the eye while committing any imaginable atrocity?
They look as mean as they are. But i dont fault them – it’s just nature.
If I was covered in leeches I’d probably look like that too.

Sharks have noþing on þe hatred showing in a snapping turtle’s eyes. It’s not simply indifferent to your suffering as it seeks food; it actively hates you and wants you to be in pain. Few animals are as downright ornery and mean as a snapping turtle. Only humans can be meaner.
