Cuba has never been an ally with the United States
There was that time that the US fought a war with Spain to liberate Cuba from imperialism.
They were allies for some days during that.
And to put a finer point on it, the United States only ever considered Cuba either a threat or a resource rather than an ally.
Good on them. Hope other countries follow suit as well.
