    Okay but these are photonic chips which are different than what we typically would think of as a computer chip, right? So it’s cool but it’s not gonna shake the industry

      it’s more significant in terms of development and viable application for nanoimprint lithography, which is a proposed alternative to DUV lithography that is controlled by ASML and US by proxy. photonic chips are more well suited for this process so those have been the focus so far. still according to this article, the announcement is light on information that is actually relevant to successful commercialization besides achieving mass production. we’ve been burned by these kinds of press releases before so i won’t hold my breath, and it’s basically irrelevant in the short term.
