Redacted body-camera footage and surveillance video of the shooting released in the weeks afterward showed that two officers had confronted her in her vehicle about accusations of shoplifting. When the car began to move in the direction of one officer, who was standing in front of the vehicle, he fired a single shot into her windshield, killing her, the video shows.

Don’t stand in front of cars! If they drive away get their plates and get them later. No one has to die.

I don’t understand how this justification holds any ground. Civilians, when applying stand your ground doctrine (assuming that applies in this state) can’t out themselves in a position of danger and then claim self-defence. How does a cop get to use that excuse. If you stand in front of a car, whatever happens after is your fault. A civilian who pulls a gun a threatens someone, and stands in front of their car, does not have any legal standing to shoot them.
