    He’s right.

If Finland enters the war, Russia can look forward to 2x the drone strikes on its fossil fuels and 2x the rate of 200/400 cargo

Even if Finland isn’t ready to go with the drones, you know Ukraine is shipping hundreds to take advantage of new launch sites!

Fuel refineries are legitimate military targets. You’re getting confused between fuel refineries and schools, Russia often makes that mistake. They look so similar.

            Lol.

Bridges also are, right? And civilian factories producing electronics, that the military happens to use, right? What is allowed to be targeted?

Maybe the Russian people should do something to ensure they stop being attacked. It’s all on them, not the defenders. Meanwhile, Russia is striking apartment buildings.

That’s all? You aren’t allowed to attack logistics? Logistics are how you wage war. There has literally never been a war ever that didn’t target logistics. You’re saying the defenders should be restricted to only targeting military bases, while the invader is attacking civilian housing?

Clean civilians as a war crime. I’m not sure how many civilians on the regular take a wander through an oil refinery.

Killing civilians is another war crime. There’s a lot: bombing civilian infrastructure, killing civilians, collective punishment, moving civilians into militarily occupied lands, killing PoWs, etc

            From your linked article:

Russia’s call for an emergency meeting despite its own attacks on Ukrainian civilians was also questioned by several nations.

Pretty much every nation in war commits war crimes. I would seriously struggle to find a country or entity that didn’t… People don’t just have the soldiers line up nicely and shoot at each other until one side surrenders.

Pretty rarely do countries get investigated or convicted for war crimes… The worst like the US and Israel just ignore it either way.

Russia is at war with NATO since Putin took over. At least propaganda wise. Why do you think their media ghouls keep hitting that “nuke it” red button at the first queue of Europe.

It is the reason tankies keep slinging same narrative.

The smart one sure the dumb ones try and hang on to power longer than it’s possible and then end up having to be killed in order to get rid of them.

I have a feeling that Putin is too much of a control freak whoever just surrender power on his own. Nothing short of a military coup will deseat him

“They continue escalation, trying in every possible way to anger Russia. We, of course, will not succumb to provocations, but we will strengthen our defense on this very significant section of the border. Even now, I assure you, we have enough military equipment concentrated there to blow up half of Finland.”

Zhuravlyov accused Finland of “gradually turning into a second Ukraine” following its decision to join NATO in 2023.

Both the USSR and Finland figured the fight would be between the great powers and the USSR. The USSR wanted Finland to be neutral to close off that route of attack, and Finland wanted to be neutral and sit out any war.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finno-Soviet_Treaty_of_1948

Under the treaty, which was signed on 6 April 1948, the Soviets sought to deter Western or Allied Powers from attacking the Soviet Union through Finnish territory,

Under the pact, Finland was obliged to resist armed attacks by “Germany or its allies” (in reality interpreted as “the United States and allies”)[citation needed] against Finland, or against the Soviet Union through Finland. If necessary, Finland was to ask for Soviet military aid to do so.

The agreement also recognized Finland’s desire to remain outside great-power conflicts, allowing the country to adopt a policy of neutrality in the Cold War.

Finland followed the Eastern Bloc countries’ decision and did not participate in the Marshall Plan.

But that doesn’t hold in today’s world where Russia is little more that a terrorist country that wants bits of land, so they joined NATO.

Air power / missile technology is way beyond what it was in 1948, too. Attacking “from Finland” might be convenient, but it is not at all necessary.

They’ve invented lots of technologies since the 1940s unfortunately for Russia they then burnt it all in the first 6 months of the war so now they’re back to Soviet era tanks.

Meanwhile everybody else’s stock by all is still at 100%.

China is also unlikely to be too supportive in that area, they would like Russia to win against the West, but they also know that’s not going to happen without China joining the war (Russian air force essentially no longer exists and their navy has been effectively neutralised), and they don’t want to do that. So second best option is to let Russia collapse and then take a bit of territory from themselves.
