ofc we’re all in agreement of that, so i would like to point out that no use of animals in policing, security, the penal system or warfare is justifiable. All are animal welfare concerns, all are dubious in their usefulness and almost all are a human rights issue waiting to happen as they come with the problem that you are basically abusing a living, feeling animal as an autonomous weapons and sensor suite that you may or may not be able to recall when it makes a decision you do not agree with. Among a bunch of other concerns for the animal, the people it is used to police, the people who house it after it is retired, i could go on.
This reminded me of an infuriating conversation I had with a “militant vegan” zionist from Israel. They went on and on about animal rights but suddenly those concepts didn’t apply when it came to prisoners or Palestinians more broadly (which they said most were terrorists anyway and therefor undeserving of any rights)

Michelle Bachelet, a former president of Chile and now UN Commissioner for Human Rights, was also held at Villa Grimaldi in the 1970s with her mother Ángela Jeria.
“I get angry, I get angry, I get angry to see how they took advantage to destroy and kill our companions,” Sepulveda said as she recently toured a rose garden created at the center in memory of female victims of the junta.
“They didn’t get what they wanted and I hope that someday we can have justice because they (the women) deserve it.”
