The random Canadian digs at the US through dialog spoken by member of the US military is one of the best parts of this show.

In the same episode, Hammond (of Texas) reminds O’Niell that T’ealc has done some horrible things in the service of his master. O’Niell reminds Hammond (still of Texas) he has himself done some horrible things in service of America.
I honestly can’t imagine any us military personnel saying that with a straight face, except when facing public or press.
This line always made me giggle, especially since Hammond knows O’neill’s service record, and has definitely seen some of the stuff he did in the 80s in other countries.

Veiled Star Trek reference?
Both SG1 and Atlantis make constant references to Star Trek. Some are vague, some are directly in the dialogue, sometimes as jokes, some are even plot points. But Star Trek references are a constant ongoing thing throughout all of Stargate.

I used Plex to create a master playlist of all of my Stargate content in original broadcast order. So I guess it mostly resembles the “optimized” version , and all crossover references work.
Yah, I have a Kodi one just sorted by date. Need to look at it and this before my next watch, dropped it in the folder and left a note. Mine doesn’t have Origins, although to my shame I have archived it, here’s hoping it’s not the last, that would be sad.
I watched Origins again last week, and I agree with the last image above in that it should be placed at the end, if you really feel the need to watch it at all. It’s a prequel, but it is full of nods to the original series/film that you will not catch if you watch everything in a chronological order.
With that said, it was not made by anyone who was involved in any of the previous shows/films, and breaks multiple aspects of the canon of both the shows and films. Just be prepared before watching it that it should probably be considered its own thing that is simply inspired by the previous shows/films. Not as bad as Infinity, though, in terms of breaking canon and just being something else entirely.

Well, it has limited usefulness, but you can work within certain constraints and do it in batches for certain shows. I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but with shows like Doctor Who, it will just play specials. If you let it play from episode to episode… Specials will play in order as they’re supposed to air, without any interference. I guess it’s just a Plex feature. no need to actually create a playlist. Unless you want to include torchwood, Sarah Jane adventures, etc…
Anyway, if you do a search for Star Trek, for example, and then sort the search results by air date, you can, for example, select all of Star Trek the next generation, Deep Space 9, and Voyager, and add that to a playlist after you have added enterprise, then the original series, then the animated series individually by series. You will have to add the movies in manually to that playlist, if you want the films in the playlist as well. I don’t think there were any shows after that whose seasons overlapped. Maybe a season or two of lower decks and strange new worlds, but I don’t thinks so.
This doesn’t work for Star Wars stuff because, although nothing overlaps (except for the Mandalorian and book of Boba Fett), there are several films that take place in between seasons of certain TV shows, and air date order is not the same as chronological order. All that Star Wars stuff is insanely all over the place as far as timeline.
Same with the MCU stuff. Air date and proper chronology are not the same, so it’s all mixed up.
Atlantis begins after season seven and runs in parallel with season eight. A fairly big plot device from the SG1 season eight finale is then used in the Atlantis season one finale.
Jesus! Well, I assume you’ve at least watched Babylon 5. It’s also got a bunch of Trek references. And actors.

As with most shows, the first couple seasons are the weakest, but the show overall is just fantastic. It’s a must-see for scifi fans.

I actually preferred the earliest seasons. Humans as the scrappy underdogs exploring the galaxy are more fun to watch than the humans who have been around the block for a few years and are building space snips for themselves. Also, half of the early episodes are dedicated to adding some interesting worldbuilding concepts. There are only a handful of episodes in the latter half of the series that added some neat new concept.
Oh I don’t disagree, just that the first two seasons had a significant amount of cringe that smooths out by season 3.
I always consider that the early seasons were them throwing a lot of shit at the wall to see what sticks and feels right, and then they actually followed through on that. Like how the quantum mirror episode carried a lot of water for later plot points. They just didn’t take themselves seriously from the get go, and were able to figure out something that works, so the cringe stuff doesn’t even feel that bad in the long run, we just move on, it’s not coming back anyway.
Plus there’s a couple of big episodes that were in surprisingly early seasons, like the “crystal boy tries to heal O’Neill”, that showed what kind of stories they wanted to make, that it was worth keeping up with.
I love that scene where Carter says “Sir, we can’t name this ship the Enterprise” with kind of a long-suffering air.

Despite the many problems with Fandom, this page has a ton of info about the various crossovers throughout those franchises. Mainly, a neat chart of all actors who appeared in both.
That’s what we hate the most about sites like that though, isn’t it? That they’re occasionally useful?
I just have to cross my fingers and hope that the site eventually gets sold to someone who doesn’t suck. That way, all that genuinely useful information does not go to waste. Because I hate to write off the entire website just because of all the little secondary issues that make it awful.
Sites are always sold in the direction of more suckage, not less.
