I see something like this and I’m like “oh are you trans?” And then I’m like “oh or a cis woman?” And then I’m like “oh or an immigrant or any shade of brown?” “Oh or a working class man?” And I just end up thinking of every identity combination because there are maybe 5 people on earth that this admin hasn’t been extremely hostile to, and even for them it’s only a matter of time before they start turning on each other and eating each other too
Then you think ‘where is this being posted?’ The US, the UK, Australia, China, Russia?

Hahaha - I’m the other end of the Lemmy age spectrum, unfortunately I’m old enough to have seen a number of right wing governments remove rights and freedoms, and successive ‘left wing’ governments do nothing to restore them because they are empowered by the same handful of people.
We are in the new age of the Robber Barons, we just call them Tech Billionaires this time.

Fair enough, but I think it is clear the US has been attacking its own people from the very start. Just gun violence alone has killed more people in the last 20 years than every US soldier that has died in every conflict since the beginning.
I personally know of several people who have been shot and killed. The War on Drugs has destroyed millions of minority families. Just about everyone has lost someone close to them from addiction including me.
1 in 3 adults have criminal records and 1 in 3 minorities have a felony. Jim Crow laws ensured that racism never went away and there are countless examples of minorities being killed when they developed their own communities and built wealth. Just about every major park in large US cities was built on minority neighborhoods and the the US highway system was always routed through poor neighborhoods.
The US government which is represented by the wealthy is vile institution of hate and indifference. Medical bills account for 66% of bankruptcy and as a recent poll suggest 95% of insured Americans avoid medical care due to how expensive it is. Meanwhile the wealthy live in levels of luxury that no normal human can fathom. It is truly a disgusting and depraved display of profits over people.
Sure, but people living outside the US are way bigger victims of its imperial nature, people living inside US enjoy the benefit of imperial pie (altho its shrinking as soviet union doesnt exist anymore).
How many friends of yours are dead from gunshots? How many loved ones died from overdoses? How many people have you lost to cancer? Have you lived your life without medical care?
