A viral campaign is urging Americans to turn Halloween into “De-Flock America” night and target controversial surveillance cameras while crowds and costumes provide cover.
Posts promoting the campaign have spread rapidly across Instagram and X, calling for Flock Safety cameras to be disabled, covered or destroyed on October 31, 2026.
A circular saw with a blade designed for wood with nails in it will go through one of those aluminum mounting poles in about 10 seconds.
You know, so you can rush in and save the camera from the wokes.
Or something.
I think a reciprocating saw would work better, since it’s easier to handle and cut sideways. Then you need the finest tooth blade for metal, like a diamond grit. Theoretically.
Aluminum clogs the teeth of recip saws. You need something that throws the chips away, hence the circular saw.
Diamond grit blades don’t have teeth to get clogged. Ideally you’d want something that fine for cutting any metal.
Aluminum will clog up grit blades even faster than toothed blades. The problem with aluminum is you need to get rid of the heat, thus make it less likely to stick to the cutter.
Really? Toothed blades die way faster for me on metal. Granted, I’ve worked more with steel and brass while aluminum is a bit softer, you’re right. Now I’m tempted to grab an aluminum pole from the scrap yard for some tests.
I’m biased because I already read something on deflocking recommending a recip saw, but maybe they both work fine.
I keep getting this eerie feeling that this idea has been floated by officers themselves so they have a reason to be even more aggressive to anyone wearing a mask on Halloween. Which, of course, will be a ton of people so that’s right up their alley.
I could just be reading too much into things and be completely wrong.
I literally just made a post about this and thought I was sounding crazy. Cops are already calling Deflock a terrorist organization. It’s very odd that this has the name “de-flock”. You’re not alone. It feels off.
