Why does this feel like Buc-ee’s decided to try and cash in on MAGA appeal. Wonder how that will work out long term.

The sad thing is, it will. They’re going to corner the market in the redneck states they are in. The real reason they don’t care about the blue states is blue states have alternative options that aren’t bargain bin cheap shit, so they get fewer customers. And by goading and insulting blue states, they gain extra loyalty among the stupid hicks.

Financially, this will work out just fine for Buc-ee’s, and if it ever stops being profitable, they can just shut everything down and leave the red states with the empty building and the next scammer can come along.

“And I’m starting to realize life’s too short to try to build in places that people don’t appreciate what you’re bringing versus a place like this, where people do appreciate what you’re building,” Aplin continued.

Well, I guess it’s just as well that I “don’t appreciate” a company with no break room, where employees regularly work 10 hours shifts, where they’re generously allowed a 10 minute “personal moment” to eat lunch standing up in the back, where if you’re late more than 3 times in 6 months you get fired (and that includes being “late” back from the bathroom), where they never do reviews so you never get a raise, are under constant audio and video surveillance, you have to have your phone turned off your entire shift, you get in trouble if you refuse to work late and you can’t leave until “your work is done”, you can’t go to your car during work (not even to get, say, period products), no employee discount for a shift meal, etc, etc. Seriously, fuck Buccee’s, I’m glad you find the blue states “hostile”.

Only hype I have for it is that it is a reliable and genuinely clean bathroom stop that you will never have to wait in line for - no matter how fuckin packed the place is.

And their beaver chips are pretty dang good.

But honestly, if I’m ever in control of the road trip (I never am), i wouldn’t bother stopping. It’s a fuckin gas station. But everyone is all excited about bucees, so I’m there every road trip

They are suing a local business owner who has been in business with this logo for decades… and are saying it is not “business-friendly” to support a local small business over a national mega-chain.

    Huh…

I wonder if there’s another reason the company wants to operate only in red states and wants to flood the zone with lawsuits that give them horrible press…

The son of a co-founder of a popular Texas gas station chain is facing a new felony charge in Travis County, less than a year after being indicted on multiple counts of felony invasive visual recording.

29-year-old Mitchell Wasek, son of Bucee’s co-founder Don Wasek, has been charged with third-degree felony possession or promotion of child pornography.

A warrant for his arrest was issued on Feb. 27 and bond has been set at $50,000, according to court records.

    Edit:

That article was old, but pretrial was supposed to start like a week ago, very very hard to find recent articles, but that’s the entire point of all this bullshit. They’re creating as much noise as possible because anything is better than that trial for their image.

The CEO will shit on a sidewalk if it’s a guilty verdict, that’s still preferable to people talking about the founder’s son and trying it to the brand.

It’s weirdly flying completely under the radar…

Jon Oliver did a whole deep dive on the company and their lawsuits and everything, and he completely missed it.

When I first heard about it, I didn’t believe it because surely it would have been huge news. They must have a crazy good PR team.

“Conservative, business friendly” is literally counter to employee and community friendly. They build there cause they can do so at the expense of the employees and the communities.

A Buc-ee’s gas station is like a Disneyland version of a truck stop. Has a big footprint like one, but actual commercial drivers aren’t able to stop there.

I have never viewed it as a truck stop. It’s just an inconveniently oversized and busy gas station with very nice bathrooms.

It’s a great place to stop if you need to be assured a clean toilet. It’s crazy overhyped as a destination in and of itself though. And a ton of the stuff there is overpriced.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine ® has argued the company’s decision to sue a local business operator in Beavercreek, Ohio, for alleged trademark infringement was “ridiculous.”

    The (R) stands for Republican.
