Shadow Libraries is an updated link tree to the big, active ebook repositories. Since it just holds links to the sites that host the files, it’s a lot less likely to get taken down. So I keep this bookmarked instead of whichever domains the usual sites are currently under.
Zlib still works great for me. There are always alternative links when something is down. I use Fmhy to find alternative links or other resources that are generally up to date.
You can try Irc. But that seems like a pretty niche read. Coincidentally, I use hexchat rather than mirc.
