Months of testing confirm earlier suspicions that the fragments were made in modern times. What happens next?

The Museum of the Bible (which has been investigated for theft of antiquities) Dead Sea Scrolls are fake.

The Dead Sea Scrolls at actual Museums in Israel and Jordan are very much real artifacts.

I wonder if anything else was going on in March of that year that might have caused it to slip people’s notice? Probably not.

I wasn’t aware of this, and it’s a good article explaining how the forgers created these snippets, and why so many people fell for this. Thanks OP, it’s really interesting!

Wait until you find out the Shroud of Turin has an image of some torture victim on it instead of Jesus.

I mean I wouldn’t want to be literally nailed to a stake while I’m still alive.

And then fed vinegar to drink after being out in the hot desert sun for a couple days (or however long, that detail is kinda fuzzy for me).

i think he died before the end of the day?

iirc they break your shins so that you die faster if its taking too long, and there was a prophecy that none of jesus’ bones would be broken.

I think there’s a theory that the vinegar was posca, a mix of vinegar and water that was better than straight vinegar. Not that that was really a kindness since he’d survive longer and suffer more

It was essentially the Gatorade of the day, a roman soldier would have been giving him part of their rations, essentially.

Though idk where you’re getting the part about suffering more, you don’t die from dehydration during crucifixion, you die because you can’t breathe anymore.
