i don’t even know if the russians use the ‘mig’ designation anymore but the mig-21 is definitely the most aesthetic war plane in existence, with an impressive war record and long list of users to boot. i think they use the designation scheme ‘SU-[number]’ for their modern planes but i could be wrong.
Mig and SU are designations from whichever aircraft manufacturer they came from. Mig comes from Mikoyan, whereas SU is derived from Sukhoi.
