I got my first computer at 15, in 2005, and even then they were very clearly bad just from my newbie experience and seeing forums posts. The word itself is so tainted for me because of them. One of the companies that “enshittified” way ahead of the curve.

That’s not a word, independent of meaning and context. It’s “laid”. And what’s with the capitalisation of every word in the title? That’s not how it should be written at all. It feels very “this is a big deal to me so it means it’s a big deal to the world and big letters mean big thing”.
And just to be clear, I’m in no way trying to minimise what happened to you and everyone else in the game dev industry. I have friends who have been and are in the same or similar situation, you just need to not fail at basic writing.

That title is exactly how stuff like this should be reported. All the nazis, racists, pedophiles, anti-lgbtq+ worms, women haters etc. should have their names, faces and details shouted so everyone knows who they are.

One of the things I do that I’m proud of is only buying clothes second hand and always taking clothes with me to donate. I need to feel that it’s at worst an equal exchange, but always try and mostly succeed in donating more than what I buy. I ask family and friends for stuff they don’t want or use, so I almost always have more than just exchanging my own stuff.

You are just wrong with both things in the title. Game mechanics weren’t better, that’s just objectively false. And replayability is very much dependent on the game, no matter when it’s from.
My guess is that it’s one of or both of these things that make you say that:
• You only play AAA games, the most surface level boring shit that never does anything interesting.
• You’re under the spell of nostalgia, only remembering the very best from back when and not taking your memories into account for comparison.

There are so many great and interesting games being released, more than ever, with mechanics that couldn’t even be imagined before. And as said, replayability is completely depending on what game, both old and new. There are tons of new games with infinite replayability, both with and without mods. There are so many games now that have so much, both in depth and wideness, that replaying them can feel like completely different games, that just couldn’t exist before.

It’s sad that so many of you seem to think this post is true, you’re missing out by either not evem trying to find the good newer good stuff or being so deep into your nostalgia holes that nothing will ever be good. I feel sad for everyone who is stuck in both or either holes.

Based on the many great sci-fi shows we’ve gotten from Apple TV I feel it’ll at least be ok and worth a watch. If I was forced to pay for one subscription for shows it’d absolutely be Apple TV (I pay for none 🏴‍☠️).

You’re mistaking the bubble for the technology itself. AI can be and is used to good things, but the bubble is about the bad stuff. The whole idea of a bubble like this is that we over inflated something too quickly and too much to a point where it isn’t a good stable growth and the only way to stop that is for the bubble to burst. In modern-ish society there just won’t be a letting out of “air” to stabilise the bubble, there won’t even be a slowing of filling it until it bursts. When everything is about infinite growth and something new comes along we’ll always jump on that pump and fill the bubble as rapidly as we can and completely ignore any long term plan and consequences, because money and power.

TIL swingeing is a word, and with a very separate meaning from swinging. It just looks weird and feels like swinging should be the actual correct one but that spelling seems to be pretty specifically for the polygamous sex stuff.

It’s really fucking not hard to learn the correct usage. You’re: you are, your: something belonging to or being part of you. You’re isn’t a word, it’s a contraction of two words. It’s so fucking simple to understand when to use any contraction or similar sounding word that there is never an excuse to get it wrong. It’s also mostly native English speakers who get it wrong and part of that is the American educational system being one kf the worst in the world.
