a personal pet peeve is people always talking about how capitalism would be if it was “done right”
like, it’s “done right” already, the purpose of it is not to create a society where people are treated fairly, without greed, shady practices or corruption
the purpose of capitalism is to make a number go up, its for a person to get richer, no matter the cost
honey you don’t want a capitalism that’s “done right”, you want socialism
I think the issue is everyone has their own personal definition of what capitalism is. To some it just means free markets. For people really unaware, it just means the existence of money ( I think that’s what that physicist YouTuber thought it was). The ambiguity is convenient for the exploiters because if you don’t understand the system, you can’t change it.
Sabine Hossenfelder mentioned! Infamous video lmao. “Capitalism doesn’t account for externalities, we just gotta regulate for those”
The fact that pro-capitalism content is now being churned out clearly sponsored by the big corps or thinktanks or whoever is pushing these things is a solidly good sign of the current fearful mindset going on among the capitalists.
I would rather see a militant mindset going on among the workers. This is not a good thing
I seem to remember a similar (article not video) about costco a year or more ago. This vid bein posted so recently smellsa faff designed to push down strike news search results
costco has been doing a lot of youtuber sponsorships lately as well. genuinely have been seeing their logo at least once everytime i open youtube. they’re really trying to push a good image for sure and it definitely wouldn’t be suprising if it was related to the strike.
Was it Nick Mullen arguing that shopping at Costco is a catered event?
Yup, and he argues that he should be able to just be there, chat with his friend, stand by a sample cart and eat samples without being accosted by strangers. While Stav said the proper ‘fat’ etiquette is to eat while making laps, thinking you are working off the calories. It’s a funny bit.
Smellsa Faff. Is that the maiden name of Latka Gravas’s mother?
inb4 the entire video revolves around the CEO defending the use of hotdogs as a loss leader which is basic marketing for 90% of retail and fast food.
Is that why teamsters have been gaining ground there?
“Mastered Capitalism” or “Found a temporarily profitable niche”?
You(Tube) decide
What makes ya’ll think Costco didn’t just pay this youtuber for a fluff piece?
that channel is the costco guys official video essay channel where they take a critical look at costco’s innerworkings from a center left wing perspective.
Are libs gonna be OK when the hot dog goes up to $2.00?
Without being greedy
Costco has the same profit onus of every other company it just uses a slightly different business model that means ita members get huge volumes of cheap goods. That’s it.
It is exactly as greedy as every company anykne dislikes. The oppression of capitalism is not due to greed, it is a built-in mechanism that profits must be maximized. It doea not matter how highly a business owner or customers think of the company, it is a profit-generating machine or it will die.
Example: Costco always fights the union.
Costco Net Profit 2024: $7.4B
idk, thats a lot of theft if you ask me
nuuuu wholesome keanu hot dog!!! rotisserie chungus!!!
Welcome to Costco, I love you
buying in bulk costs less money, whoa!
If you buy directly from manufacturers you can get stuff way cheaper. Although in some cases Costco is probably the only way manufacturers let you buy in bulk.
Capitalism would be perfect if there was no middle man getting in between global south labor exploitation and my stomach.
megacorp: slightly less horrible than other corporations
liberals: i will lick the CEOs feet
No amount of praise or recognition is going to change the behavior of any other corporation.
Their particular shareholders were pro DEI, so liberals are now doing free promotion for them.
