    • Razor: ERN 6/8 French Point Full Hollow

    • Lather: Wholly Kaw - Entropy Man - Soap

    • Aftershave: Wholly Kaw - Entropy Man - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

This was my first use of the full Entropy Man trifecta. Wow! It was also a test shave for the coticule edge that I put on this razor yesterday. The edge performed magnificently. It gave me a very comfortable, BBS shave.

    • Brush: AP Shave Co. Handle w/26mm Maggard SHD
    • Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
    • Blade: Personna 74 (17)
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Arkadia - Soap
    • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Hamami - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

    $discord

Arkadia notes: Orange, Vetiver, Black Pepper, Grapefruit, Cedar, Patchouli, Vanilla, Geranium

Orange and Grapefruit are undeniably “citrus”, but I’ll only count one of them to be conservative. Black pepper is peppercorn, just ground up. There’s no difference other than one is a dried fruit ball, and the other is a dried fruit ball, ground up. You could even pick up a container of Peppercorn at the store and exclaim to your shopping parter “look at this container of black pepper!”.

Such a good lather. It was from a sample so I smeared a bunch into a bowl and loaded almost all of it, which was a lot. As we all know, more soap = better lather.

    Sunday, February 09, 2025: Atlas Shaves 2 - Day 9

    • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations “Nebulagance” - TurnNShave Quartermoon 26mm synthetic
    • Razor: GEM - Micromatic Clog-Pruf
    • Blade: Personna - GEM PTFE (6)
    • Lather: Catie’s Bubbles - Retreat
    • Post Shave: Declaration Grooming - After the Rain Aftershave splash
    • Post Shave: Ginger’s Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)
    • Fragrance: Chanel - Égoïste EdT

On theme today with a smush of Catie’s Bubbles Retreat (shares vetiver, sandalwood, and citrus notes – 3/5 of Vetiver Moderne). Still in for now.

It is a very mild and pleasant scent that I found quite relaxing. It also gave an excellent lather.

Off to do all the chores today…

+2 points for soap with at least half the same scent notes
    +1 point for cross-posting
    +1 point for engaging yesterday

    Total points (36 previous + 4): 40

Got home from a weekend of festivities only to find that the threads of my daily driver gave out. It was a Bevel DE kit i bought myself for Christmas back in 2021, so I’m a bit peeved i only got about 3 years out of it. The handle and base plate are still good, but the top cap is unusable.

Anyway, i need a cheap replacement and fast, and am looking for advice on how to prevent the threads from deteriorating in the future. I’m an every day shaver, but my beard is fairly thin and slow growing so i don’t need a very aggressive head. I’ve gotten used to the comically large handle of the Bevl razor I’ve been using, but i am open to just replacing the whole thing

I don’t think anyone here has experience with the Bevel, despite it being a common razor. It looks like it’s made out of zamak, which is common with safety razors.

You might be able to replace the head and keep the handle, assuming the handle uses the standard M5 threads. Maggard razors has some heads to pick from (and handles). At that price point, zamak is your only option, and they’ll all likely last about the same amount of time if used daily.

You’ll probably like the V3M from Maggard razors.

Ended up going with a Parker Variant as well as an open comb Maggard head to experiment with on the bevel handle.

I would love to upgrade to something nicer, but I’m stretched thin and don’t have the budget right now unfortunately.

Another option for something more durable, but still affordable, would be a vintage Gillette razor.

The tech or super speed can be found for pretty cheap on auction sites like eBay. They shave great, are made out of brass, and are very durable.

I second the option of a vintage razor if budget is an issue. They are available in great condition, shave well and stood the test of time. Plus, they’re easy to get shiny and clean again if you desire so with just a toothbrush and dish soap and an ultrasonic cleaner bath afterwards.

Day 09 of Atlas Shaves 2 – Electric Boogaloo Sun 09 Feb 2025

    • Brush: Zenith 506B MB (27 mm × 51 mm Manchurian badger)
    • Razor: Böker – 14er (8/8", extra hollow, carbon steel, square point)
    • Lather: Acqua di Parma
    • Post Shave: Acqua di Parma
    • Fragrance: Acqua di Parma – Blu Mediterraneo Arancia di Capri

Was yesterday the day when this competition went off the rails? With prominent contestants walden and priusaurus going for non-literal interpretations of the rules and violations of integer arithmetics, it may be over. We’ll see.

Anyway, this is a scent notes SOTD with ADP matching sandalwood, citrus, and vetiver.
