Democrats have blown millions of dollars on efforts to appeal to “American Men,” who turned to President Donald Trump in droves on election day, in the hopes of winning back the working class, according to a report.

Democrats have spent $20 million on their efforts, with donors and strategists holing up in luxury hotel rooms brainstorming how to convince working-class men to return to the party, according to a New York Times report.

The plan, code-named SAM, or “Speaking with American Men: A Strategic Plan,” promises to use the funds to “study the syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces,” according to the report.

As the Times described it, the reports “can read like anthropological studies of people from faraway places.”

The effort also recommends Democrats buy advertisements in video games, among other things, the Times reported.

Imagine finishing an online Match or beating a boss and getting this cutscene

flattened-bernie"im once asking for your financial support”

“Above all, we must shift from a moralizing tone,” the plan urges.

Democrats have “lost credibility by being seen as alien on cultural issues,” McCrary added.

Jesus Christ. The floor is actual leftism, and the democrats are in fucking space trying to out conservative the conservatives.

“How do we win voters back?”

“I know, we’ll just copy what the republicans are doing”

“Isn’t that what we’ve been doing since 1992? Doesn’t that coincide with the long road of people having less faith in us to actually get anything done?”

“Well, yeah, but it’s bound to work this time”

Dems can’t go left because going left alienates their donors and donor-serving geriatric leadership. At most they only want strategies that pander vaguely left without following through and even the pandering is a bridge too far for most of them.

Dems are fine with losing. They don’t really believe in anything aside from neoliberal warkhawkishness that would make Reagan blush, so they feel no psychological damage from being unable to enact policy. And they are personally economically just fine with lossrs, they can use them to solicit money and positions by being the "lesser evil’.

The tea party was absorbed into the GOP having achieved nothing threatening to capital. All it spawned was a new brand of pandering, i.e. being more crass.

Neither major party is reformable. There is literally no mechanism to make it happen. The people at the top of the parties can change their own rules whenever they want to so even if a group fought a hard-won battle, they would be kneecapped at their moment of “success”. For example, DSA libs essentially took over the NV Dems in 2016 and were rewarded for it with complete defunding and were then undermined until out of power.

A party must be internally healthy and driven by an educated and committed membership to be resilient against capital. It must be a fundamentally different beast than Dems or the GOP.

Absolutely. The people in charge of the Democratic party today were part of the Obama administration and campaign apparatus and internalized the strategy that helped Obama win, and somehow think that the strategy of soaring rhetoric and peacemeal reform that immediately gets rolled back by the next Republican president is how they win and keep winning

That’s true although I think they only follow it piecemeal. Obama was very charismatic. I think the Dem rug pull strategy could still work if they didn’t keep installing obvious ghouls as candidates. The Dems think that they can graft elements of Obama’s PR strategy onto obvious sociopaths like Clinton or Biden. Buttigieg is basically trying to be Obama but he isn’t likable and his charisma comes across as rehearsed. And his strategy is running up against the “wait your turn kid we are running an old ghoul they are the sure bet and we owe them” strategy.

Basically, they want Obama’s campaign but refuse to build it or have a similar candidate. Their seniority-based grifter network gets in the way and so do donors who balk at even making cynical promises. All Harris had to do to win was lie about Israel needing to withdraw from Gaza, that she would “talk tough” with Neyanyahu, and bring on some token Palestinians to condemn Hamas and ask for a ceasefire. The Dem appararus avoided this, deliberately, because signaling unconditional support for the settler entity’s genocide was a very high priority for donors and campaign staff.

Democrats have “lost credibility by being seen as alien on cultural issues,” McCrary added.

The issue isn’t that the democrats are “alien on cultural issues”.

The issue is that the cultural issues are elevated above the issues of general everyday survival facing the majority of people. Bernie never really opposed any of the cultural or identity issues of the left, he even vocally supported them, but he remained widely popular because he prioritised the issues of everyday survival that all working people have.

You don’t become alien by caring about cultural or identity things. You become alien by behaving like there is nothing else at all of any importance or value besides those things. It makes you look like an out of touch sheltered bourgeois alien from another planet that knows nothing of struggle faced by the average person every day.

Gain minor cred by doing some PMC Dem bullshit (work for a campaign, be a liberal in a union and shmooze with politicians, etc) and start a consultancy. Or work for an existing PMC Dem consultancy and steal clients to start your own.

The Democratic Party is 90% consultancies like this keeping its “thought leaders” well-paid through a combination of party funds and direct donor funds, funds directed to carry out “strategic” work in the directiom defined by donors.

They might be the actual worst people out there. Their reason to exist is to put a friendly face on genocidal imperialism and to ensure common people with hearts are focused on their con and not people with whom they would otherwise empathize. And they’re aware of their position, they are confronted by those on the left and their response is to do some version of calling the cops. They then do a little self-soothing dance like, say, reading Jay Tapper’s book and patting themselves on the back.

Was it the new Tappee book about Biden’s obvious decline and the media coverup that makes no mention of his participation in that coverup? Because peak liberal is reading that book and never asking that question, lol.

Edit: oh it was a novel. But I hate-listened to NPR uncritically talking about his new book so I still feel vindicated.

It’s kind of like exercising a muscle to listen to them. I just heard then interview a CEO about movie theaters. That CEO dropped a ton of cisnormativity, complained about COVID lockdowns and the writers’ strike, and talked about going to the movies with his wife as if he were a king being among commoners. The host praised him and provided zero pushback.

The premise of even having him on the air is its own media critical topic. With the option of talking about literally anything, they decided to do a puff piece on the “movie industry” by only talking to a CEO. Not even an industry rep, just some egotistical jackass. Several people sat down and planned this. Amazing.

I worked for a newspaper for a few months and got fired because they wanted to publish an article about trans issues at the high school without interviewing a single trans person or student, and I refused to approve it. The article only interviewed the principal, who of course maintained that everything was perfect at the high school. I offered to get in touch with students or just do anything to make the article better but the reporter and editor refused. Corporate media is such a fucking joke.

Bruh, you dont have to spend millions. I know it will probably blow their minds, but they can try going to places where working class men are to learn how to win them over.

But of course the democrats are a fundraising org. They cant do anything that doesnt require raising and spending millions.

I have to imagine “spending millions” for them isn’t the same as “spending millions” for us. For us, you spend the money and get a product and in so doing no longer have the money. For them, when they first have the money, it’s the democratic party’s money, but they personally want the money. Therefore they have to spend it on consulting themselves and their friends for putting ads in video games (an agency that they and their friends probably run) and still being racist (a pastime). Then the donations cease to be cookies in the cookie jar and cookies in their hands, as it were. That’s when they spend it on renovating summer homes (for airbnb), some kind of slop that’s covered in gold leaf, and a big useless bland green lawn.

Why don’t they just use their AIPAC money and pre-cognition stocks to do that? Why didn’t Van Gogh just ask ChatGPT to make a Ghibli style picture of the night sky? The love of the game.

I dont think its love of the game but to (pretend to) show people they are doing something, otherwise those donos will dry up. Of course what they are doing is mostly bullshit and like you said paying to consult themselves.

Only WW3 and the shutdown of Oxygen Production from our oceans await us now. And thank goodness, there are worse ways to go extinct.
