The concept of an object which exists in nature, or artificially, NOT having an “owner,” is literally incomprehensible to the liberal capitalist mind. The river’s water must be owned, the ground’s oil must be owned. To be is to be owned; I am commodified therefore I am.

“Reagan” is still a great song though.

A libertarian tried to pull the “given that people own themselves” as a natural starting point on me, and when i rejected the premise he seethed about it.

Basically, they were stating it was the natural state of man that he owns himself. I bluntly put it that “property ownership” is a state invention, ergo it’s illogical to say it’s inherent to man when it didn’t exist at the time man came to be. His response was to whine that I wasn’t abiding by the proper rules of intellectual discourse and that I obligated to accept his argument.

Akshually disagreeing with me is against the rules of intellectual discourse… apparently. I wish we could just say “given” a fact and they just have to go with it. “Given communism is the correct progression from our current capitalist systems…”
I’m gonna start
“No such thing as a free lunch” mfs when they realize the universe is the ultimate free lunch.
how fucking stupid do you have to be to not realize that 1) you can have people take care of a building without owning it and 2) LANDLORDS PAY OTHER PEOPLE TO DO THAT SHIT ANYWAY
