Day 3/30 of Side-by-Side Straightember – First Strop

    • Brush: Zenith r/Wetshaving exclusive MOAR BADGER (Silvertip)
    • Razor: Böker – Abalone (6/8", full hollow, carbon steel, French point) 1 mystery mark
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Company – I, Rich Moose (sub-exclusive sheep tallow)
    • Post Shave: Sir – Irisch Moos
    • Fragrance: Sir – Irisch Moos

I’ve stropped the edge with 1 mark before this shave, and it was very smooth. I’d be very suprised if tomorrow’s edge can beat this.

    What’s this about?

    03.09.2025

    • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm
    • Razor: Leaf Thorn
    • Blade: Derby Premium (half DE)
    • Lather: Wholly Kaw - Transition
    • Post-Shave: Lavera - Men sensitive ASB
    • Passes & Info: single pass only on the head again. A little bit of burn once I applied the ASB lotion, otherwise a good shave.

A quick shave after I trimmed my stubble beard down. The really short lengths look best with a skin-close shave up top in contrast IMHO. WK Siero is always nice to use and Transition has such a smooth, mellow and warm scent. I can’t pick out anything individually, but it’s seriously very good and relaxing to use.

The 3rd RN shift was a huge improvement over yesterday’s miserable day. It seems like my colleagues are indeed happy to have me around, just don’t have enough time to explain everything thoroughly. Tomorrow I will have another early shift, but this time with a team member who’s universally hated at this station. We’ll see how it goes, I try to stay as neutral as possible.

  • Septidi 17 Fructidor an 233 de la Révolution, jour de Cardère

Total shitshave – binned the blade.

    • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations “Stardust” - TurnNShave 26mm Shoat
    • Razor: Koraat Moarteen (15/16", full hollow, square point, r/wetshaving exclusive) (1)
    • Lather: Summer Break Soaps - Steady - Soap
    • Post Shave: Summer Break Soaps - Steady - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented - Balm
    • Fragrance: Catie’s Bubbles - Crangère - EdP

First shave with a new edge on my Moarteen! It went well enough, though I nicked my chin a couple of times. Slowly but surely the technique is coming along.

This edge definitely feels more keen than the “factory” edge Ulrik put on this razor.

Steady is an awesome scent that plays nicely with Crangère. I’m on the fence whether I’ll pick up the frag.

    • Brush: Rubberset - 400 w/ Maggard SHD Badger

    • Lather: Catie’s Bubbles - Verdigris - Soap
    • Post Shave: Catie’s Bubbles - X - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Catie’s Bubbles - X - EdP

Verdigris is so nice. I can’t wait for the full line up to drop. X also feels right to wear on a slightly chilled day.

    Call me what you will

This is sample part 3 of 3. B&M’s Vegibus base. The scent is interesting. The first whiff from the sample container puts me in mind of peanut butter creme (e.g., Reese’s Pieces) but it opens up as lather builds. It took longer to make it lather than yesterday’s Tabac tallow. It went on slick but it didn’t protect as well.

I swapped to the ol’ trusty 37C as my mug needed a break from Lo Storto. I need to skill up before Lo Storto gets daily driver status.

    Have a great day!

    • Brush: Muninn Woodworks w/AP Shave Co 24mm Titanium Synthetic
    • Razor: F.W. Engels Leader 6/8 Full Hollow Square Point
    • Lather: Areffa Soap - Kentucky Bourbon - Soap
    • Toner: Thayers - Coconut - Toner
    • Aftershave: The Cajun Blade - Lumberjack Luxury Aftersauce - Aftershave

2 passes. Bowl lather. Excellent shave.

This Areffa soap from Ukraine is excellent. They nailed the Kentucky Bourbon scent and the bear tallow base is rich, silky and slick. Today’s shave was from a sample, but I think I need to buy this one.
