And somehow still missing really important stuff and skipping over anything cool for stupid action scenes
To be fair they also added a love triangle between elves and a dwarf /s
And an eternity of pointless river-barrel fighting.
Come on, they even chose the one and only dwarf without a fake big nose and beard so it’s plausible that an elf can fall in love with him
/s again just in case
I rewatch the LotR movies at least once a year. But I haven’t rewatched the Hobbit movies even once.
What about rereading the book? It’s really fantastic IMO.
Haven’t reread it in quite a while, but it’s on the list.
I can’t find it now but I saw a fan fic re-edit of The Hobbit a few years ago that boiled all three movies down to something like 2h20 or something and it was decent
Was that the M4 edit or one of the others? I’ve not seen it, but I’ve heard good things about it.
Look for the “Maple Films Edit” if you need to watch the Hobbit movies. It’s a fan edit condensed into one movie with stuff like Legolas cut out completely. It doesn’t make the movies good but it does make them… shorter.
Or the book edit, with all non-book stuff cut out.
Actually, the Lord of the Rings are six books published in three volumes.
Edit: You meant the Hobbit, of course, and are spot on. Silly me!
One book, 3 movies. 6 books, 3 movies.
Makes sense.
imo the book has enough content to fill three movies or even more. It was the execution that was just bad.
Wait are you talking about The Hobbit?
When I heard that the first movie was part 1 I assumed there would be a part 2 but when I found out they made an 8 hour 40 minute trilogy out of that skinny little children’s book I knew they were going to fuck it up and they sure didn’t disappoint.
