do i need to skip the first 3 games in order to skip the 4th one?
If you’ve skipped the first 3 you won’t miss anything by skipping 4. Except the Denuvo, you’ll miss that because 4 has it right now.
oh that partially explains why everyone is saying there’s terrible performance. game looks barely any better than the first one that came out like 2 decades ago. no clue how it should be having performance issues
I heard it also ships with anti-cheat they call Symbiote, though I’m not sure what the performance implications of that are.
is there pvp in bl? wonder why it needs anti cheat
I don’t know about 4. I know there’s co-op in 1-3, so I imagine that’s in 4 as well.
Chad Darktide: let’s you mod the hell out of their game even though it’s multiplayer online.
Virgin Borderlands: needs anticheat even though it’s literally only co op with friends
No.
spoiler
You also need to skip the Pre-Sequel, the Telltale series, and the movie
imo Borderlands movie is a must-watch, you really don’t get that kind of old school dogshit video game movie that often these days
there are not enough chemical friends in the world for me to watch that shit
there’s a scene where a character says “Oh yeah? You and what army?” to the villain and they reply “The one right behind me.” before a bunch of soldiers appear out of the dust behind them
absolute peak cinema
that would be better if the villain just mugged instead of saying something
is it better to skip all of this on controller or kbm?
instead of playing borderlands you could just get a lobotomy for the same experience
is it okay to get a second lobotomy? I had to get the first after playing the Strand games
Only if you own a SSD
(I actually liked borderlands 2)
(I actually liked borderlands 2)
sometimes its okay to say nothing (im kidding, kind of)
didn’t most people like the first two BL games and the pre-sequel/tiny tina? that was always my impression i got. i played the first 3, i thought they were fun gameplay wise and the characters were at least attempting to be entertaining.
yeah the first two are well-regarded because people played them with friends in college. the writing in 3 is way worse somehow also we’re not in college anymore.
i didnt have friends or go to college so i’m not sure that’s the only reason people liked them lol. but yeah i do recall 3 being actively disliked. i wasn’t super into the first two myself and thought it was okay but a step down from the previous ones
yeah other people like it besides college educated 35-40 year olds but borderlands as a zeitgeist game is very middle-millennial because of that social context.
oh its definitely middle-millennial, no argument there. it’s also cringe. i don’t wanna sound like i’m defending the series too much. i just passively somewhat enjoyed the first 3 even tho they had their faults and made me cringe. im by no means a BL enjoyer.
eh, the first game is mechanically interesting and there’s some good writing in 2. unfortunately randy pitchford exists and doesn’t eat at medieval times anymore.
Great question! No, Borderlands 4 is a great first Borderlands game to skip. Happy (non-)gaming!
yes, just make sure you need to skip in chronological order instead of release order
Is Borderlands 4 out or something?
no it still has denuvo
You can understand the game’s story and appeal by playing any of the games for 5 to 10 minutes, skip the others in any order you like after that.
True lore masters do something similar, but they also add the games to their steam library and then skip them for other games in order of release afterwards (for example, most gamers are deepening their lore knowledge by skipping this installment after downloading it and playing silksong instead).
Why isn’t it called 4derlands?
