Other kind of neurodivergence and I not only battle with how unjust this all is, but also with how little it makes sense. Personal gain is usually such a short-sighted goal and the things they currently do (your guys in the US but here in Germany too) are objectively so stupid that they’re likely nullifying a lot of the personal gain within the next years.

It sometimes feels like being in the middle of a horde of suicidal lemmings, running towards the cliff and though seeing it, I can’t get out. And the majority of people around us is still fine with this…

Absolutely! It’s the daily struggle of seeing people not only hurt others but also themselves for no reason but stupidity at all! And those who do so for supposed short term gain which is none at all on closer inspection.

I think humanity has plenty of swarm intelligence. We just don’t match it with the appropriate amount of wisdom to temper it. We’re a bunch of developmentally imbalanced animals pretending we’re more evolved than we are, wasting our time competing for trivial things and reinforcing ancient delusions… Which is probably why any aliens that would be aware of us wouldn’t want to visit. I wouldn’t, and I’m no better than the rest of us. We collectively suck.

A small amount of individuals are cool though. So, at least there’s that.

Another fine “educational” Disney film for kids from the 1960s if I’m remembering correctly. It’s incredible how some guy just up and decided to send a horde of animals to a brutal death for entertainment value was par for course.

You are completely right and I feel the exact same. However, one thing I am certain of now is that the majority is not fine with this. There’s many different ideas about how to do it, but a strong majority recognizes change is inevitable and necessary to prevent a further political slip.

Maybe I’m too positive but political theory and statistics has taught me time and time again how many quirks there are in different democracies that dilute the will of the majority and push some very fringe opinions. And it’s just a matter of time until the democratic system realigns with the true will of the people. Unfortunately either by gradual actual change, or by complete destruction and rebuilding. But that’s usually how democracies evolve.

More like being on a train headed for that cliff and the brake room is guarded by a squad of toughs, and everyone on the train has been socially conditioned to stigmatize any mention of braking or slowing down, and they will likely team up to try to stop you before you even get close enough to the brake room for the toughs to even threaten you (but if you do get that far, they’ll kick the shit out of you all the same).

It’s like it’s taboo to even mention hitting the brakes, and people will treat you like a social contagion and a danger to society if you bring it up

As an American, I don’t understand how anyone can be proud of our “founding principles” without also being deeply ashamed of our failure to live up to them. It fucking hurts to live with this much hypocrisy, and I’m not the one getting snatched off the fucking street. Better just keep absorbing as much info as possible lest I feel guilty for ignoring it…

In the context of feudalism, monarchy and the late “Middle Ages” in Europe, liberal democracy is one of the most revolutionary things ever to happen to Humans, and the US led the way in reducing that ideology to practice.

From there, the admirable stuff is largely the framework for self reflection the system creates, though the US has not always led the way in that sense compared to its peers. No society is perfect, and a major differentiator between empires is how the people handle reflection of past sins. This is why being a progressive in the US is so fucking tedious - because the legacy and the procedures for doing better are there. They are well known and they aren’t that complicated. But then there’s this whole contingent of reactionary assholes who are neither students of history or philosophy, resting on imagined laurels to constantly oppose and then undo what progress we are able to make.

I used the “cover your ears and sing” tactic. Basically turning off news and retreating into my own little bubble and just trying to maintain that in functional order as this is the only thing i can have at least some control over.

Beyond major events that seep through regardless, i have no idea whats going on. Which is kinda bad now that I’m on lemmy as this place doesn’t have my countries specific sub/instance so i have no idea what’s going on in my own country as well, but at the same time i really don’t want to be constantly blasted with the worst shit happening across the world. I already have issues with being too negative and cynical.

I doubt that human brain, NT or ND, has evolved to keep up with modern news cycle that collects worst news across the world and just blast you 24/7 with it.

It’s like the modern news cycle is designed to make a person feel bad by showing them things they can do almost nothing about, while hiding things close by that they might have at least some effect over.

But that Ignorance is how boomers got us into this mess, no? And ignoring issues because you can’t do anything about them is what the elites want you to do, no?

Yes I am doing the same currently, but I feel like I lost to the system. I still have a bit of hope that something will change soon, but what if it doesn’t? And will it change without me? Every other thing I have to do myself or it just won’t happen, why would politics be different?

Yeah I’m fully aware it’s not the best approach, but it does help in limiting the damage and having enough willpower/energy to do something when there’s a slight chance of actually effecting some change. Otherwise just the scale of it will grind down any single individual and spit out a burned up husk.

So cant completely turn off everything, but at least limit it significantly. Yes there are people suffering in Africa or middle East or south America or north America or even Europe or Asia, but there isn’t much i can do about it and being constantly bombarded with overwhelming amount of negative information just feeds the helplessness feeling and erodes away the will to do anything. Which is kinda crucial when there is actually something that can be done.

Bigger events will seep through the filter anyway and generally that’s good enough to get the rough idea of what’s happening. Aka like war in Iran started up again, but at the same time theres no point to start looking up videos of how many kids got blown up this time or any more specifics about it. Though once every 2-4 years or local equivalent of election cycle kinda have to crawl out under the rock to see where things have been heading and who might be able to slightly nudge towards the opposite direction.

Of course one can become more active even by just organizing local rallies or finding like minded individuals around themselves, but once again it has a limited effect and works just on a local sacle, it will not have any immediate effect what’s happening on the other side of the planet or becoming Luigi, but that does require opportune moment and nothing to lose/no one depending on you.

Basically limiting information flow and choosing which battles to fight, instead of getting overwhelmed with the sheer amount of negative information and trying to fight all the battles all the time and subsequently completely burning out.

“United we stand” < has always been true.

They’ve done everything they can to divide us against eachother, on race, on what brands we wear, what teams we cheer for, what geopolitical land we happen to be on top of, the color of our skin, and the “class” of jobs we hold… To name a few.

The problem is that many people idolize the ultra wealthy, and nobody ever got wealthy by helping their neighbor. Those “celebrities” have long since stopped caring about who they stood on the backs of and exploited to gain their wealth. They don’t care about you. They won’t help you when you fall. They don’t want you to be supportive of your neighbor. They want you to be aggressively individualistic to the point of being “us vs them” where “us” is more of “me” and “them” is anyone who isn’t me.

It’s never that way. It should never be that way. United we stand.

See, I’m generally against calling the correct public authorities for shit like that, because in this day and age it’ll probably end with the asshole getting deported or shot.

And as much as I hate people who park in dangerous spots, I don’t think that’s deserved.

There was this giant box truck that used to always park in a no-parking spot (on the shoulder of the street) right next to the exit from my kids daycare. As a result it was a leap of faith pulling out, every single day, because you couldn’t see shit around it.

This was right around the corner from the police station, so I must assume they’ve seen it and it’s probably one of theirs.

AuAHD with bi-polar. I got angry enough with a letter that the fbi came out and inspected my home, worried I was hoarding weapons.

They know how angry we are. There is a reason some are doing everything they can to either double down with thier fascist identity or are jumping ship.

I made it clear to them, if they think I’m MAD there are people out there who will go beyond words.

I… Strangely feel more free. Now that I know for certain I’m being watched, I kinda lost fear of it. Not because they are right, but because I know I wasted thier time and that I have the ability to talk the fbi down from arresting me… It’s so strange.

But I also know, when these awful people get desperate, I’m on thier list and high up it.

I’ve been walking around my house, looking for cover spots with the energy of a counter strike player analyzing a map for any tactical advantage.

Planning on what to do when they try rounding me up.

When I’m not planing for the downfall of America, I watch our world like one watches a hyper slow mo crash of a train flying off the tracks into low income but surprisingly diverse neighborhood full of orphans and the train is full of ignorant fat white people who only now look the tiniest bit scared as the now realize that the train is crashing despite countless warning signs. And… All I can do is watch… I can’t save a soul. And as this train wreck ends, for some reason I know the survivors that were on the train are some how still going to blame the low income neighborhood.

And some how… I’m supposed stay alive and fight this evil… When all I see is people hopelessly cling to the idea that we can all have peace if we just talk it out. When I know it will take death, of some kind to actually fix it. No matter what.

Words are becoming meaningless, promises empty, and our fates at the whim of entropy and what some rich people feel that day…

I some how don’t “give up.” I some how I still get up, some how I still take my meds and stay mostly sober. Mostly for the two cats in my care that have been handling the collapse of the world with a grace and calmness only the monks on mountains know.

I also get up for husband’s older sister’s family, who, despite all this and having to put up with a system that favors killing good men, are raising 1 AuAHD kid, two infants who may also have it. And the older sister’s husband is still paying child support to make things right with his ex wife and still greatly cares for his 2 kids birthed by the ex wife, despite the ex wife ignoring the very clearly autistic kid and shunning the other kid for not being lady enough.

I wake up for my cousin who is Rasing a severely autistic daughter who is non verbal, incontinent, 12 year old in the budget of 30 hour week at Arby’s as shift manager (young adult baby sitter), while she keeps the sanity of failed unemployed musician of a husband who’s mental health and physical health is declining rapidly due to onslaught of fake news and propaganda slamming through the Ai slop that is tiktok and Instagram reels. All the while she has to live with her husband’s family on one room because the husband doesn’t trust any government assitance programs.

I wake up for my upper middle class retired grandmother who is hemmoraging money to make sure I and my cousin don’t die and are cared for. All the while her friends and family are dropping like flies in a bug bombed house. Either as the results of long term covid or old age. She is last one.

All the while I still grieve the loss of mother who died single because men took advantage of her emotions and because my biological dad died 2 weeks before my mom learned she was pregnant with me.

For the love of humanity and all that is good in this world, do not give up, do not make my families sacrifices in vain.

I recently also got diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I can’t do anything violent let alone productive even if I wanted to, my body isn’t strong enough.

Please, do everything you can to make a better world for us all.
