“Somehow”
I don’t know guys. Do you think we could get to the bottom of this?
Where my orca homies?
Unfortunately these weren’t the types of yachts they were going after. They were, AFAIK, going for yachts under 50ft. I’ve known of people who have a 40ft boat as their home, so these are not the same type of people as the billionaires on super yachts
I wish the yachts themselves were exploding.
Don’t let our dreams be dreams
It’s not “somehow” - the real economy is tanking precisely because the oligarchs have got so efficient at skimming the top off.
Skimming the top, yeah, but the “top” is 99.99%.
They’d probably quote that and portray it as you saying 99.99% of people are in the “top” now.
The suffering of millions is directly proportional to the wealth of the ultrawealthy. These things are not tangentially related. They are direct consequences of one another.
Yep. People can only be wealthy if the wealth is not distributed evenly.
They can only win if we lose.
That is not true. That is the Zero Sum Game Theory they’re playing where one party takes all. What we need is to think more along the lines of Positive Sum, where all parties can ein.
The problem is that the sum is positive, limited (with changing limits), and unknown. Everyone can benefit, but you can’t have everyone do better you still get everything you could possibly want. But you can get everything you could possibly want by keeping others from having enough, and since you can’t know the limit you can’t easily be held accountable
VOTE
somehow
I am tired of pretending I don’t want to behead all billionaires.
It’s so interesting that people can pretty easily be sold on the idea of starting a war that will kills tens of thousands of people based on geography that won’t really change much, but if you propose killing far fewer people in a move that will improve the quality of life for the majority of people on the planet suddenly you’re a monster.
I’d prefer a worse fate for them.
Say, working a “9-5” grind until they die like the rest of us to contribute to the society they live in instead of leeching from it.
Then stop. There’s plenty of us that feel the same. Our community needs more people.
That reminds me, I have to sharpen my guillotine.
These things are terrible for the environment.
‘Megayachts’ are environmentally indefensible. The world must ban them: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/dec/11/megayachts-environment-carbon-emissions-ban
We don’t need to ban them. They just need to be made to sink through a series of unfortunate events that are nobody’s fault at all.
And if the owners are aboard and are unable to escape the sinking, I’m sure that would be a tragedy, and absolutely nobody would be dancing in the streets over such an event.
Is there a yacht tracking site like the ones people have used to track private planes?
There are a number of sites that do this with naval transponders; generally, I believe it’s expected that civilian vessels have their transponders engaged (especially in national waters), though I’m not sure there are any strict requirements (or even realistic enforcement mechanisms) once one reaches international waters.
Release the Orcas!
“Somehow” as if it’s some great mystery and not because the 1% are siphoning off a bigger and bigger portion of the world’s wealth. All to use for their own amusement while recklessly destroying the planet and sabotaging any attempts to do anything about it.
thier buying yachts like they are art pieces, its likely also laundering scheme.
I’m pretty sure all tagged are $300 million dollars, so that they can be traded at any time for that amount. They are just floating $300m bills.
Don’t forget using them to hide somewhere out of reach when the peasants finally revolt.
They’ll run out of food and fresh water at some point. And have to come close enough for a drone firebombing or 2.
Can’t stay at sea forever, unfortunately for them.
If this happens, they better be damn sure the workers on the yacht have been paid and treated incredibly generously. It’s not like these yachts are actually operated by the owners, and the crew are part of the working class.
That’s why they want AI Robots
That’s the real agenda.
How odd. Its almost as if the insanely wealthy are getting richer at the expense of everyone else. Not to worry, they earned and deserve it through knuckling down. It’ll trickle down anyway. It’s not their fault. If anything it’s the brown people risking their lives on unseaworthy craft that are to blame for everything being so expensive.
Let’s Tricke It Down by just taking it back.
Anytime now the trickle down is gonna start, trust /s
Just start working in the super yacht business.
just peddle accessories to superyachts and rich people will buy it,.
I live in Seattle. We have North America’s largest superyacht facility here: Delta Marine. Their starting pay ($22/hr) is less than the local burger place, Dick’s Drive In ($23/hr), and I swear to god I am not making any of this up.
rich people are biggest cheapskates if they get away with , it would be 0/hr.
This makes totally sense. Why should the workers in the field of work Which caters to people, who became rich by exploiting the working class, not also exploit the working class.
So clearly the solution is to
guillotine billionairesbecome an exploiter yourself.
It’s getting close to the point that the only thing that needs to be tricking down, is blood. We’ll worry about the money after that. There should be plenty of leftover money with nobody to use it anymore.
We are all going to get boats?
ai will give us all boats.
Tax their fucking wealth. We should be voting en masse for wealth taxes. They are just social parasites that extract wealth from the rest of the population while killing it. !twnw@fedia.io
Enslave the wealthy, make them work for us.
gabe newell the ceo of valve has an entire fleet of superyatchs
https://luxurylaunches.com/transport/gabe-newell-luxury-yachts.php
Seems as good a place to start as any.
At first I saw that among his fleet of 6 ships, that he has a research vessel and a hospital vessel. I thought, “Ok, funding research and a fucking full on floating hospital that he can send to disasters and places in need. That would actually be pretty fucking cool.”
But, then I kept reading “a full-fledged hospital, serving as a safeguard for the cruising billionaire during the COVID-19 pandemic”. 🤦
It’s a “support” vessel that follows his main yacht around in case he needs medical care.
He’s create a fleet that he, his family, and his friends can escape to when the revolution comes, and Sociopathic Oligarch families start losing their heads.
He’s not the only one. When this is over, we will task a military outfit to hunt down superyachts, arrest the occupants, confiscate the yachts, or destroy them if they resist. With satellites, they shouldn’t be too hard to find.
I know Lemmy loves him, but if he’s got fleet of superyachts, he’s part of the problem.
his personal private hospital.
It should be pointed out he actually now owns Oceanco, the megayacht building company mentioned throughout that article
I like to think he has an elite crew of engies and demo guys to keep his fleet safe.
And to think it’s the Rainbow Warrior that got mined and sunk
