Wait a minute, this isn’t a shitpost.
Basically what it’s like to play music. I assume any other hobbies. Join me fellow aspiring musicians, I’ve been failing for like 16 years and counting.
Thanks

Tell that to the
IDFhorrible people killing children.
Man I don’t even know when was the last time I ate cake.
My outlook is , hey if I tried and failed at least I know I put in the effort. I didn’t just accept defeat before knowing my limits.
Isn’t it better to know you tried than you were too weak to even try?
I guess it depends on the kind of person you are. Some people don’t like being confronted by their limitations so it’s easier not to test those boundaries and pretend they don’t exist.
I wanted to change careers to something totally different and took a course and found the maths beyond my capability to understand. That was when I found my ceiling. And you know what? That’s okay. I tried, and now I know I can’t do it. I won’t live the rest of my life wondering “what if” or regretting that I didn’t go for it. Instead, I changed directions and I’m about to (hopefully) graduate from a different masters.
In a similar vein, during my undergrad, I took one single class in 3D animation. Up until that point, I thought I would love it. Turns out I HATED it. I could do it, but I hated it. I’m glad I took that class, otherwise (again), I may have spend the rest of my life thinking about this ideal career and regretting not going for it. Instead, I’m so relieved that I never had to do it again.
Yeah I’ve seen similar.
When I started my masters in cog neuro, I was with like 20 other students. I think only 1 of us said they didn’t plan on pursuing a PhD. But by the end of the degree, I heard almost everyone say that a PhD was not for them. They wouldn’t be doing one. They didn’t like conducting research nor the writing.
Sometimes looking in, it seems like something you would enjoy. And then when you do it, you realize it’s not a good fit.
I mean same goes for things you think you might not like. Or won’t like it very much.
I first took a psych class in college because it fulfilled a requirement. I was interested in psych about as much as anyone. A passing curiosity . But it wasn’t really an area I had much interest in pursuing.
But I found I liked the class a lot and for once in my life, it was an easy A. So I took another and another and realized this was something that I liked and was good at so I stayed with it.
Never would have known it was a good fit if I didn’t just get out there and try new things.
It’s really hard to tell sometimes what will stick and what won’t.
I’m still trying, I’m not done failing yet.

I know lots of people who succeed without even trying
Yeah because they saw me fail and don’t want the same embarrassment.
Free yourself from worrying about being embarrassed and you can conquer the world
Or they know better from seeing someone fuck up
