My boyfriend masquarades as smokin hot women in some games he plays. Not sure what his reasoning is, probably multiple things: 1) women warriors in their shredded tunics with weapon & artillery holsters & their cleavage bursting out is a lot more entertaining to look at than some guy warrior. 2) probably interesting to note how differently other players treat you when you’re a sexy lady, vs how they treat you when you’re just some guy.
If I’m going to spend the next 300 hours staring at a character’s ass, I’m picking one I actually want to look at.

Always have, always will. Smaller Character models take up less space in 3rd person games and are harder to see in pvp.

One of the mini-bosses pulled the “No man can defeat me” card so you had to show up to the challange as a chick and slap the shit out of the knight. Sir. Tiffy Cashin would give you a coupon to the make-up witch (It just opened the character creator pane) so you could change things back if you wanted to.
Well, chances were you would need it, at least. You were given a random selection of trials every time you attempted the initiation, so you could randomly not get the “No man can defeat me” guy.
Also, the makeover mage (who themselves swapped between male and female every few seconds, because of you have magic powers, why not have fun with it?) only let you change your sex and skin color. To change your hair you needed to go to the hairdresser and to change your default clothes you needed to go to the clothes store.
Eh, depends on the game. I look at both and pick whichever one looks or sounds fun. Last few games I was a whole team of women in turn based games. Current game I’m a lone wolf male. Sometimes I find it funny making the cutest girl and whomping on enemies, othertimes I make an ugly old lady or man. Sometimes I make them look like me, or my wife, or one of my kids. Litterally depends all on my mood and whimsy at the time.

My wife still teases me for how I play stardew valley. I was in a grumpy old man “get off my lawn” mood when I made my character. Played through it and hated how completing quests bumped up your reputation. So, I made extra effort to give people trash gifts so they liked me less.
My character fishes, farms, explores caves, and is drunk whenever he’s in town, and liberally gives out trash to everyone that he crosses. Everyone hates him and that’s exactly how he wants it.
He since retired to the island as he finds the lack of people peaceful.
For me it’s like if I want the character to be an analogue for myself, I choose a male and try to make them look like me. If I want the character to be cool, I aim as close to warrior princess as I can get.
I generally make my character male if it’s a first-person game, and female in a third-person game if the characters are interesting looking. If I’m going to stare at an outfit and ass for 100 hours, I may as well enjoy it.
You got me, as my defence women characters often have better clothing options, hairstyles options, VA, etc. Lets a man play dress up in peace 😂

Ahah you get it. And yeah often when clothing work both ways (everything is unisex), the men clothing looks good on the women character, but not the other way.
Was it SR3 where they started to allow to wear whatever?

Last games I remember playing where the men had similarly interesting outfits were Monster Hunter World and Elden Ring and Final Fantasy
MH wilds finally lets us equip the male/female armors regardless of the character’s gender ! It really upped the fashion game
The VA part was especially noticeable in CP2077, the male VA sounded like someone doing a stiff stereotypical mobster accent, while the woman VA was excellent, with far more emotion put into the lines, couldn’t imagine playing it any other way.
Yeah this is a clear edge case. both VA were good but the VA for fem V was insanely well done.
I also would rather play more games written for a female protagonist. 3 decades of male player characters is plenty.
I have something similar watching movies/shows with women protagonists that are meant for women audiences. Tired of watching guy main characters ig, still totally cis tho!

You just reminded me of a memory that may have sparked my desire to transition.
I developed this one character for Dungeons and Dragons. Oh my God, I’m having a revelation as I type this!
Ok, so Calian is a Half Elf who’s mother was a High Elf and father was a Half Orc. Years ago, her grandfather on her dad’s side had to fight to be allowed to enter the stronghold of a female Orc. He won, and she chose him as her next of many husbands. They legit fell in love and had their son, Calian’s father.
So Calian is 1/2 Elf, 1/4 Orc, and 1/4 Human. She has slightly more pronounced canines and Half Orc eyes - mostly just the golden color irises.
Her parents perished in a racist’s terrorist attack who hated all half breeds. She was taken in by a group of nuns who maintained a church to the goddess Sune (remember, D&D). She grew up loved and to love unconditionally. Her more Orcish instinct to be a warlord clashed with her desire to love. And who deserved the most love and devotion?
Princesses.
Calian was so enthralled with the idea of saving a princess from danger that she would make up wild fantasies in her mind where she was the heroine who sought out and rescued princesses. This was her vow to her goddess before going her holy quest.
Calian took her job way too seriously and “searched” for princesses in very unlikely places. She frequented taverns to “save” the barmaids, or snuck into brothels to find her real princess she was destined to save. And she was a bit of a horndog but that never actually came up in the game.
And I realize now that she was who I wanted to be. I already had my princess, and after me married, my queen. Now I have two princesses to look after, and I adore them both.
This character has morphed over the years into another persona that I actually am interested in playing as in roleplay with my wife. Am I ever going to transition? Very unlikely. But I text her as this other persona, and it’s so nice to be me without having to change me. I still really dislike how I look and feel, but I am a coward who doesn’t want all of the hardships of becoming a woman. I’d rather press a button and POOF become one instantly. Oh well. A girl can dream.
