As much as Nicki Minaj is a wanker, this is a really conservative argument.

Suddenly permanent residents opinions don’t matter, despite politics affecting them?

The only way out of this madness is international working class solidarity.

Attack your enemies on their ideology, class position and viewpoints, not on their immigration status ffs.

(Her husband and brother being rapists, obviously fair game for criticism)

Clinton was a friend of Epstein, too.

Why does he get a “child molester pass”, friend?

              He certainly doesn’t, but

              • He hasn’t held office for 26 years.

              • He’s not the individual currently covering up the files.

              • He’s said he wants them released. Defensive strategy? Maybe.

              • To my knowledge, nobody has ever come forward to accuse Slick Willy of raping them as a minor.

Epstein and Clinton hung out a lot.

When you pretend that’s not the case, 70% (at least) of people know immediately that you are not to be taken seriously.

(40% of voters are independents, they all know that Clinton and other Ds were in Epstein’s circle, along with Trump and Rs… 30% of voters are republicans, and they know that Clinton and other Ds were with Epstein, along with Trump and Rs).

You should be ashamed of yourself to put it all on Trump and ignore Clinton, just pretend that he’s not there. Revolting.

                Trump-Clinton files. Say it.

That question reveals the extent to which MAGA is a cult of idiots. They expect people to be falling over themselves to defend Clinton because he’s “one of us” and that’s what they do. We don’t care. Lock him up if he’s guilty. Our ideas are not attached to any one person, so individuals can be held accountable for their actions.

Nah. We voted to have civil rights restored after sentence was served, but the government did an end run around the people (as usual) and said, “you mean sentence served and fines paid, right?” Then immediately started imposing fines of hundreds of thousands of dollars, really unimaginable amounts, so that it was impossible to ever finish paying them.

Maybe in local elections, but I always thought the whole point of the "FElon"title is to say you’ve committed a FEderal level crime, and therefore have certain rights stripped, such as voting and owning a firearm (notably, two tools that basically only affect people who don’t have huge normal power like political or financial).

“Felon” just means they committed a felony. It doesn’t need to be at the federal level to be a felony. It’s just a more serious level of charge than misdemeanor.

              Hmmm, worth looking up…

              Per Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felony):

A felony is traditionally considered a crime of high seriousness, whereas a misdemeanor is regarded as less serious.[1] The term “felony” originated from English common law (from the French medieval word “félonie”) to describe an offense that resulted in the confiscation of a convicted person’s land and goods, to which additional punishments, including capital punishment, could be added;[2] other crimes were called misdemeanors. Following conviction of a felony in a court of law, a person may be described as a felon or a convicted felon.

In many common-law jurisdictions, such as England and Wales, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, crimes are no longer classified as felonies or misdemeanors. Instead, crimes are classified by mode of trial as indictable offenses, triable by jury, and frequently requiring a grand jury indictment, which are usually more serious, and summary offenses, triable by summary procedure without a jury and are usually less serious.[3]

In some civil law jurisdictions, such as Italy and Spain, the term delict is used to describe serious offenses, a category similar to common law felony. In other nations, such as Germany, France, Belgium, and Switzerland, more serious offenses are described as “crimes”, while “misdemeanors” or “delicts” (or délits) are less serious. In still others, such as Brazil and Portugal, “crimes” and “delicts” are synonymous (more serious) and are opposed to contraventions (less serious).

Surprisingly white/Europe centric, but still interesting.

I can only speak to US law, but state level felonies exist. Individual states have their own felonies that may vary state by state.

Which should be enough to explain the difference.

“Felony” has nothing to do with “federal”, completely different etymologymies and meanings. A felon could be a state felon or a federal felon or both, it just depends which statutes they’re convicted of breaking. “Felony” is just a degree of criminality, higher than misdemeanor.

Pointing out a technically true but similar but different issue that waters down the original message - it absolutely does.

I’m certain this wasn’t their actual intent, nor did they mean anything remotely like malice, more just to, like they responded, make a joke.

But my pointing it out I think is important, to correct our own problematic language, which heavily influences how we think and affect others. My correction was harsh, and could definitely have been clearer. But I do stand by the notion and the correction.

Like in the strictest sense, yes she’s not a citizen so it’s ‘foreign’. But it’s not that deep?

She’s been problematic online long enough for someone to publish an journal article on it: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8590827/

People have speculated the Trump support early in his admin was because she wants pardons for people in her life, or help with citizenship, as she’s had legal trouble in the past too. Or maybe she just likes money? Time Magazine had an article earlier this year about how important celebrity endorsement has become to the campaign, and how Minaj became involved.

    The article contains this passage:

Her approach changed after a series of unnerving episodes at her Los Angeles home. In 2022 and 2023, her $20 million mansion in a gated enclave became the target of repeated swatting calls: anonymous hoaxes that summoned heavily armed police to her doorstep. Law enforcement has not identified nor arrested anyone in connection with the incidents. (The Los Angeles Police Department said it could not verify details about the incidents without additional information.) The experience was frightening, she says, especially for her young son.

On X, she sought help from California Governor Gavin Newsom. Through intermediaries, she says, she requested a meeting but never heard back. “He just completely ignored me, with all the money I spent in taxes,” she says. (Newsom’s office did not respond to a request for comment.)

Another swatting attack happened in April 2025, according to a police report. The episode drew the attention of a cadre of very online Republicans. Among them was Anna Paulina Luna, the former model and Turning Point USA activist turned Congresswoman from Florida. Luna, a close friend of Bruesewitz’s, called Minaj. She then connected the rapper with federal law-enforcement officials and a private security firm she uses. “I was shocked,” Minaj says of Luna’s assistance. “I’d never seen anyone in politics treat me that way.” She began to consider going public as a part of Trump’s MAGA movement. “That’s what made me say that I don’t care to keep this a secret anymore.”

“with all the money I spent in taxes”

And that gives you entitlement how?! You are ONE citizen, with ONE vote, you are no more or less “important” than anyone else. Money should not buy you influence, that it does buy influence is a bug, not a feature.

In before “it’s a feature, system is working as intended”: imho it’s a bug in the democracy subsystem that is intentionally caused and exploited by how the overarching system was implemented.

If we really want to break it down…

Democracy is not meant to work that way. The feature-contracts it implements is “one person, one vote” and “rule through a majority of votes”.

If you are able to break that contract because of how surrounding systems interact with the democracy subsystem, that means it’s a bug or vulnerability for democracy, used as an exploit by the overarching system implementing the democracy interface.

The feature-contracts it implements is … “rule through a majority of votes”.

This has never been true in the US at the federal level for the president, and arguably the house.

The president, by definition, is voted in via land. We can make all the arguments we want about the delegates voting based on the state’s vote, but we’ve seen just how tenuous that is, and that’s not even getting into the multiple instances of republicans winning despite having less votes.

The house is technically “rule through a majority of votes”, but they get elected to gerrymandered as fuck districts. They literally redistrict the land to pick their voters, which IMO, invalidates the idea that they “rule through a majority of votes”.

Apparently NY state allows felons to vote as long as they are not in prison, and Florida defers to the law where the crime was committed, so Trump is allowed to vote in Florida where is “home” is.

The real question isn’t why he’s allowed to vote, but why he’s not in prison. Felons should be allowed to vote, otherwise it would be trivial to lock your opponents out of eligibility through lawfare.

Felons should be allowed to vote, otherwise it would be trivial to lock your opponents out of eligibility through lawfare.

I just realized that this is exactly what the Republican war on drugs was. Not only was it a way to criminalize their political opponents, it was a way of completely politically disenfranchising them. Probably so is a lot of other things in our legal system.

The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.
