“Pothole” being the codename for a homemade antitank mine that only goes off when it detects the Bluetooth MAC address of a Tesla roadster driving over

The “flying” tesla exists, though - there was a demo recently.

Now, it only has 1 seat, isn’t street legal, is being sold on an invitation only basis for an undisclosed price, and uses compressed air to “fly” so it can’t do so for any sustained period - so you won’t see what the meme describes.

Also the versions that are legal and actually would be sold at best have some jets of air on the back to make them go faster, but that coats like 250k USD.

It’s probably never getting sold, it’s definitely not going to be road legal if it is.

Even if they can fly, don’t think they could go over other vehicles without killing people. That downward force has to go somewhere.

There’s a reason helicopters lift off from heli pads and not traffic jamed streets in the inner city…

Apples to oranges comparison. Look into how helicopters generate lift, you seem to be misunderstanding the physics of the situation.

Or maybe I misunderstood your comment. To me, it sounded like you were responding to the objection that the Tesla’s cold thrust nozzles exert downward force by pointing out that helicopters do the same thing and nobody gets hurt. My response was based on the fact that helicopters also generate downward force/thrust, which is why people keep their distance from a helicopter taking off… which is also why a Tesla taking off in a busy street is a terrible idea.

So either you’re contradicting yourself now, or there’s a misunderstanding here.

Definitely lots of misunderstanding going around. The meme makes no mention of thrust nozzles, that’s just crazy dumb for any kind of flying car that would be landing anywhere with people and a clear indication this is all just vaporware at best or fraud. Regardless the person I was replying to was specifically referring to helicopters only, and so was my comment and people are in no danger of getting squished by an overhead helicopter (unless it lands on them).

Watch, the EU is gonna make it functionally, if not actually, illegal, if it isn’t already, to have a car that can jump[1] like that.
